Big Ten Players Honored with National Awards
Truscott receives Hines; six players tabbed All-Americans

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Seven Big Ten Players achieved national recognition at the "Friday Night at the Frozen Four" awards ceremony, held in conjunction with the Hobey Baker Memorial Award presentation held at the Stifel Theatre.
Graduate defenseman Jacob Truscott of Michigan received the Derek Hines Unsung Hero Award, presented by the Hockey Commissioners Association. A two-year captain, Truscott has been involved with Team Impact, made visits to Mott Children’s Hospital, volunteered with Ele’s Place 5K Run and spent time with local nonprofits that have visited Yost Ice Arena. This season he contributed three goals and 13 assists in 36 games.
The Academic All-Big Ten selection graduated with a degree in Applied Exercise Science and is pursuing a graduate certificate in Real Estate Development. Truscott becomes the fourth Big Ten player to win the Hines, joining Ohio State’s Brendon Kearney (2019), Wisconsin’s Aidan Cavalini (2017) and Penn State’s P.J. Musico (2015).
The announcement of the AHCA/CCM All-American teams found six Big Ten players honored. Sophomore goaltender Trey Augustine and junior forward Isaac Howard of Michigan State, along with Minnesota sophomore defenseman Sam Rinzel, were named to the West First Team while Michigan State junior defenseman Matt Basgall, Minnesota junior forward Jimmy Snuggerud and Penn State sophomore forward Aiden Fink were chosen to the West Second Team.
