OMAHA, Neb. – Three teams on Friday advanced to the semifinals as the Big Ten Baseball Tournament presented by IFS.ai rolled on at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.

Game 11: USC 7, Michigan State 0
USC (43-14) built a 4-0 lead after three innings and didn't look back in posting the third shutout of the tournament. Trojans Abbrie Covarrubias and Jack Basseer produced multi-RBI days while the Spartans (24-32) utilized seven pitchers in their final game of the season.

Game 12: UCLA 4, Purdue 3
Top-ranked UCLA (49-6) escaped an upset bid from Purdue on Mulivai Levu's walk-off sacrifice fly to right field in the bottom ninth which scored Jarrod Hocking. It was the Bruins' first lead of the night. Starter Thomas Howard surrendered just two hits over five innings for the Boilermakers (37-20).

Game 13: Nebraska 6, Michigan 4
Nebraska (42-14) broke a 4-4 tie with a pair of runs in the seventh to finish on the winning end of a game that ended just past two a.m. Case Sanderson went 3-for-4, finishing a home run shy of a cycle. Brayden Jefferis finished 2-for-3 at the plate for the Wolverines (34-24).

Saturday's action includes a quarterfinals match-up between No. 3 seed Oregon and No. 11 Washington followed by two semifinal games.

OMAHA, Neb. – The Big Ten Conference has announced revised start times for Saturday’s quarterfinal and semifinals games of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament presented by IFS.ai.

The schedule is as follows:

Saturday, May 23 (Charles Schwab Field Omaha)
Game 14 – Quarterfinal: #3 Oregon vs. #11 Washington, 10 a.m. CT
Game 15 – Semifinal: #1 UCLA vs. #4 USC, 2 p.m. CT
Game 16 – Semifinal: #2 Nebraska vs. Game 14 winner, 6 p.m. CT

Tickets for Game 14 will be honored on Saturday.

OMAHA, Neb. – The Big Ten Conference has announced a change to tonight’s schedule for the Big Ten Baseball Tournament presented by IFS.ai.

Due to forecasted weather, the quarterfinal game between No. 1 seed UCLA and No. 5 Purdue will begin at 7 p.m. CT.

A decision regarding the game between No. 2 Nebraska and No. 7 Michigan will be made later tonight.

Schedule Change Made to Big Ten Baseball Tournament Presented by IFS.ai

OMAHA, Neb. – The Big Ten Conference has announced that due to forecasted weather, game 12 of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament – featuring No. 1 seed UCLA and No. 5 Purdue – will begin no earlier than 6 p.m. CT today.

The conference will provide an update on the status of game 13 between No. 2 Nebraska and No. 7 Michigan later this evening.

Game 14 involving No. 3 seed Oregon and No. 11 seed Washington will move to Saturday (time TBA) with semifinal games to follow. Tickets for that game will be honored on Saturday.

OMAHA, Neb. – Quarterfinal pairing are set for the 2026 Big Ten Baseball Tournament presented by IFS.ai following day three action at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.

Game 9: Purdue 8, Iowa 1
In an elimination game, Purdue (37-19) prevailed behind solid pitching from starter Austin Klug and reliever Jarvis Evans, who allowed a combined six hits. The Boilermakers earned the right to face top seed UCLA. Iowa, which received three hits from Kellen Strohmeyer, finished its season with a 33-23 record.

Game 10: Michigan 3, Ohio State 0
A pitchers duel went Michigan's way, paving a trip to the quarterfinals and a matchup with Nebraska. Shane Brinham struckout 11 batters over nine innings while counterpart Gavin Kuzniewski allowed just one hit over 7.2 innings. The Wolverines managed two hits on the night, both coming off the bat of Noah Miller, who drove home all three runs. Ohio State concluded its year at 30-25.

Friday's quarterfinals will pair No. 4 seed USC versus No. 12 Michigan State (9 a.m. CT), No. 1 UCLA versus No. 5 Purdue (1 p.m. CT), No. 2 Nebraska versus No. 7 Michigan (5 p.m. CT) and No. 3 Oregon versus No. 11 Washington (9 p.m. CT).

OMAHA, Neb. — Two teams qualified for the quarterfinals and two were sent home as the 2026 Big Ten Baseball Tournament presented by IFS.ai continued at Charles Schwab Field Omaha on Wednesday.

Game 5: Purdue 3, Illinois 1
Purdue (36-19) was kept off the board until the eighth inning, but scored three times to keep their tournament hopes alive. Eli Anderson delivered a two-run single as the Boilermakers earned the win despite having just three hits. Illinois ended its season at 28-27.

Game 6: Ohio State 3, Rutgers 2
Pierce Herrenbruck tossed a complete game with 99 pitches for the Buckeyes (30-24). Teammate Dane Harvey drove in the winning run with a double in the bottom eighth. Rutgers closed its year with a 26-30 mark.

Game 7: Michigan State 4, Iowa 3
The 12th-seeded Spartans (24-31) earned a spot in the quarterfinals and a matchup with No. 4 seed USC. Ryan McKay singled home two runs in the top ninth and reliever Nolan Higgins closed the door with a pair of strikeouts. Iowa (33-22) now prepares to face Purdue on Thursday with a quarterfinals berth on the line.

Game 8: Washington 7, Michigan 1
The 11th-seeded Huskies (25-31) punched their ticket to the quarterfinals, where they will meet arch-rival Oregon on Friday. Jackson Hotchkiss connected on his 20th home run of the season, becoming the third Big Ten player this season to reach that mark. Michigan (33-23) will meet Ohio State Thursday with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals.

OMAHA, Neb. – A new format provided the backdrop for opening day of the 2026 BigTen Baseball Tournament presented by IFS.ai.

No. 7 seed Michigan, No. 8 Iowa, No. 11 Washington and No. 12 Michigan State recorded wins in double-elimination bracket play. A total of 52 runs were scored over the four games.

Game 1: Michigan State 8, Purdue 4
The Spartans (23-31) produced the first upset of the day, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in their first at-bat and building a 7-0 cushion after two frames.

Game 2: Iowa 10, Illinois 6
For the second straight game, the visitors scored four times in the opening inning. The Illinois (28-26) lead was short-lived however as Iowa (33-21) tied the game in the third and used a five-run, seventh inning to pull away.

Game 3: Michigan 10, Rutgers 0 (7 inns.)
Michigan (33-22) earned the first run-rule victory of the tournament by scoring six runs in the bottom seventh. Cade Montgomery was stellar on the mound, striking out six and allowing just one hit in a complete-game effort.

Game 4: Washington 8, Ohio State 6
Washington (24-31) produced the second upset of the tournament shortly past midnight. The fourth-time the Huskies took the lead would be the charm as Mic Paul's two-run triple in the ninth proved to be the difference.

Wednesday will feature four more games, including two elimination affairs — No. 9 Illinois versus No. 5 Purdue and No. 10 Rutgers versus No. 6 Ohio State.

Big Ten Conference Announces 2026 Baseball Postseason Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced its 2026 baseball awards winners on Tuesday. Voting was conducted by the conference head coaches.

UCLA junior shortstop Roch Cholowsky was named Big Ten Player of the Year for the second-straight season and record-setting USC junior Mason Edwards earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Year honors. Nebraska took home two individual awards with senior shortstop Dylan Carey tabbed Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and rookie outfielder Drew Grego chosen as Big Ten Freshman of the Year. UCLA’s John Savage was a unanimous selection as Big Ten Coach of the Year.

Cholowsky becomes the third player in Big Ten history to earn the player of the year award in consecutive seasons, joining Minnesota’s Luke Appert (2002-03) and Michigan’s Barry Larkin (1984-85). His selection also marks the fourth-straight year a shortstop has been recognized. Cholowsky has produced a .330 batting average with 21 home runs and 59 RBI in 54 games. He leads the Big Ten in home runs (21), runs scored (70) and is tied for total bases (141). A native of Chandler, Arizona, Cholowsky is the top-ranked player on the 2026 MLB Draft top 150 prospects list and is a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, presented to the top amateur baseball player in the nation.

Left-handed starter Edwards sports an 8-0 record with a 1.49 ERA in 84.1 innings pitched. The Los Angeles native leads the NCAA in strikeouts (154) and hits allowed per nine innings (4.59) while ranking second in ERA (1.49) and seventh in WHIP (0.95). Edwards has recorded 10-or-more strikeouts 12 times and set the Big Ten record for strikeouts in a conference season (113). The Golden Spikes Award semifinalist was also named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week four times, matching a conference season record.

Carey owns a .980 fielding percentage in 54 starts, having committed just four errors in 196 chances at shortstop. At the plate he has compiled a .347 batting average, 14 home runs and a Big Ten-leading 63 RBI. A native of Castle Rock, Colorado, Carey has made 230 career starts for the Cornhuskers and is the school’s all-time doubles leader (63). He is a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, awarded to the top college player by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Grego sports a .348 batting average with seven home runs and 44 RBI in 48 games. He ranks second in slugging percentage (.576) and third in on-base percentage (.444) and batting (.348) for the 15th-ranked Cornhuskers. Grego has also been flawless in the outfield, fielding 1.000 in 93 chances. The Papillion, Nebraska, product is the third Cornhusker to win the Big Ten Freshman of the Year Award.

Savage led UCLA to its second-straight Big Ten regular season title as the Bruins set Big Ten records for conference wins (28) and consecutive conference wins (25) in a season. UCLA (48-6) has spent the entire season as the nation’s consensus No. 1-ranked team and is the top-seed for the Big Ten Baseball Tournament presented by IFS.ai, which began Tuesday and runs through Sunday at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Neb.

The Big Ten also recognized 17 Sportsmanship Award recipients, honoring student-athletes who distinguished themselves through sportsmanship, ethical behavior, academics and citizenship.

Big Ten Conference Announces 2026 Baseball Tournament Bracket

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced Saturday the bracket for the 2026 Big Ten Baseball Tournament presented by IFS.ai, scheduled for May 19-24 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha. Omaha will be hosting the tournament for the ninth time since 2014.

The 12-team tournament will determine the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. UCLA set the Big Ten record for conference wins in a season (28) to claim the Big Ten Championship and the tournament’s No. 1 seed. The tournament field features four teams ranked in the Top 25: consensus No. 1 UCLA, No. 11 Oregon, No. 13 USC and No. 19 Nebraska.

This year’s tournament has a new format. The first three days of the tournament will feature double-elimination brackets, pairing eight teams seeded No. 5-12. Four games will be held on Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20, and two games contested on Thursday, May 21, to produce four qualifiers.

The four advancing teams will face seeds No. 1-4 in single-elimination quarterfinals on Friday, May 22. Semifinals take place Saturday, May 23, followed by the championship game on Sunday, May 24.

UCLA Captures Big Ten Baseball Championship Outright

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Top-ranked UCLA won the Big Ten Baseball Championship outright on Sunday with a 13-11 victory over Michigan State in East Lansing. The Bruins rallied from an eight-run deficit over the last three innings to remain undefeated in conference play at 24-0. The win, coupled with losses by Nebraska and Oregon, gave the Bruins a Big Ten regular season title for the second-straight season.

UCLA (43-4) claims the Big Ten Championship with two weeks left on the season. The Bruins have already set the Big Ten record for consecutive conference wins in a season (21) and own the second-longest streak all-time for conference wins (see list below):

The Big Ten Network today announced its 2026 Big Ten Spring Championships schedule, broadcasting the tournaments and championships for men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, rowing, softball and baseball. Additionally, coverage of the MPSF beach volleyball and men’s volleyball tournaments will be presented across BTN and B1G+.

Coverage of the spring championships begins with the men’s and women’s tennis championships airing live on B1G+, April 22-26. Coverage of the Big Ten Men’s Tennis Championships from Libbey Park in Ojai, Calif., begins Wednesday, April 22, and concludes with the championship on Saturday, April 25. The Big Ten Women’s Tennis Championships Presented by Allstate kicks off on Thursday, April 23, and wraps up with the championship match on Sunday, April 26.

From April 22-24, B1G+ presents coverage of the MPSF Beach Volleyball Championship Tournament from Huntington Beach, Calif., and the MPSF Men’s Volleyball Championship Tournament from Provo, Utah. The semifinals and championship of the beach volleyball tournament will be televised on BTN on Friday, April 24, at 11 a.m. ET and 1 p.m. ET, anchored by Camryn Irwin and Holly McPeak. ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced today that tickets are on sale for the 2026 Big Ten Conference Baseball Tournament Presented by IFS.ai, which takes place May 19-24 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Neb.

All-session tickets can be purchased by clicking here . Single-game tickets will be available on May 13.

The Big Ten postseason tournament, featuring 12 teams, will have a new look this spring.

The first three days of the tournament will feature double-elimination brackets, pairing eight teams seeded No. 5-12. Four games will be held on Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20, and two games contested on Thursday, May 21, to produce four qualifiers.

The four advancing teams will face seeds No. 1-4 in single-elimination quarterfinals on Friday, May 22. Semifinals take place Saturday, May 23, followed by the championship game on Sunday, May 24.

“The new tournament format for the Big Ten is an important and positive change for our conference,” said Rutgers Head Coach Steve Owens, chair of the Big Ten coaches group. “The double-elimination portion guarantees teams at least two meaningful games with a chance to advance to the single-elimination quarterfinals. At the same time, the single-elimination portion rewards the top four teams from the regular season and sets up an exciting week for players and fans alike at Charles Schwab Field.”

All 17 tournament games will be carried live by the Big Ten Network. The tournament champion receives the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Nebraska has captured the last two tournament titles, drawing over 15,000 spectators to last year’s final.

Three Big Ten teams are currently ranked in the national polls. UCLA is the consensus No. 1-ranked team while USC is listed at No. 10 and Oregon at No. 13 by Perfect Game. UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky is back for his junior season after earning three national player of the year awards in 2025.

Charles Schwab Field Omaha will be hosting the Big Ten Tournament for the ninth time since 2014.

Big Ten Network Presents 2026 Baseball and Softball Broadcast Schedules

The Big Ten Network's 2026 Big Ten baseball and softball television coverage begins this weekend, featuring more than 800 games across BTN and B1G+ throughout the season.

Coverage of Big Ten baseball on BTN opens with a matchup between Indiana and Oregon on Sunday, March 15 at 3:30 p.m. ET, and continues with a meeting featuring Penn State and Purdue from West Lafayette on Friday, March 20, at 4 p.m. ET. No.1-ranked UCLA is scheduled to appear on BTN three times this season, including a meeting with No. 25 USC from Jackie Robinson Stadium on Sunday, April 5. BTN will air a doubleheader on Saturday, May 9, featuring a meeting between Northwestern and Illinois at 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by No. 1 UCLA hosting Oregon at 9:30 p.m. ET. BTN will air five additional regular season games in May that will be selected at a later date.

Big Ten Network will also be home to the entire 2026 Big Ten Baseball Tournament Presented by IFS.ai from Omaha, Neb., beginning Tuesday, May 19 and concluding with the championship game Sunday, May 24.

Throughout baseball season, Connor Onion, Chris Vosters, Jack Kizer, J.B. Long and Chris Sylvester will be responsible for play-by-play duties, while Scott Pose, Danan Hughes, Jeff Leise and Wes Clements will serve as analysts.

Television coverage of Big Ten softball coverage begins Sunday, March 22, at noon ET, with a meeting between No. 23 Washington and Michigan, followed by a matchup between No. 7 UCLA and Rutgers at 5 p.m. ET. A tripleheader on Friday, April 10, highlights the network’s coverage of conference play, beginning with No. 21 Oregon at Maryland at 6 p.m. ET, followed by No. 7 Nebraska visiting Wisconsin at 8 p.m. ET, and concluding with No. 23 Washington hosting Minnesota at 10 p.m. ET. Eight additional regular season games on BTN will be selected at a later date.

BTN will have complete coverage from College Park, Md., of the 2026 Big Ten Softball Tournament presented by Allstate. The tournament begins with the first game on Wednesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. ET, and concludes with the championship game on Saturday, May 9, at 4 p.m. ET.

Lisa Byington, Sloane Martin and Kelsie Kasper will be the primary play-by-play broadcasters for softball coverage, with analysis provided by Jennie Ritter and Sydney Supple, among others.

Big Ten Baseball Implements TrackMan For 2026 Season

ROSEMONT, Ill. — Member institutions of the Big Ten Conference will be using TrackMan technology to evaluate home plate umpire strike-zones for the second-straight season in 2026. As such, Trackman is the exclusive ball tracking provider for the Big Ten.

The Big Ten will utilize Trackman technology to provide in-game data and analytics to coaches and staff via in-dugout tablet. Trackman technology will also be used to evaluate and train umpires.

TrackMan uses patented Optically Enhanced Radar Tracking (OERT) to deliver incredible results from a single, small system, from a backfield to the largest stadiums in the world.

TrackMan solutions include the world’s finest stadium tracking unit and is used by all 30 Major League Teams. Big Ten Receives 2026 NCAA/MOAA Opportunities & Impact Award

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- The Big Ten Conference has been named the Division I winner of the 2026 NCAA/MOAA Opportunities and Impact Award, the NCAA and Minority Opportunities Athletic Association — an affiliate of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics — announced Thursday.

The award recognizes and celebrates the initiatives, programs and efforts of athletics departments and conference offices in Divisions I, II and III that embrace environments of belonging and well-being and elevate the student-athlete voice in intercollegiate athletics communities. NCAA and MOAA representatives will present the awards June 7-10 in Las Vegas during the MOAA Symposium.

"We're proud to accept this honor on behalf of our 18 schools, whose support makes these initiatives possible," Big Ten Conference Commissioner Tony Petitti said.

Omar Brown, Big Ten senior vice president for community and impact, added, "This humbling recognition is a direct result of the leadership and alignment we have from Commissioner Petitti, throughout the conference office, and in collaboration with our campuses. Big Ten student-athletes always are aiming for excellence in competition, in the classroom and in their communities. We will continue to build on this foundation to create transformational opportunities for their development and deliver impact to the many locales we call home across the nation throughout the year."

The Big Ten Conference continues to engage, educate and empower its student-athletes, coaches, administrators and its broader community base with programs, initiatives and engagements that make a difference and encourage positive change. For four years, student-athletes from Big Ten schools have traveled to Alabama for an immersive journey that included learning about the Civil Rights Movement, visits to historic sites, community service projects and panel sessions with local leaders. The Big Ten has also added new elements to the transformative experience each year to deepen understanding and inspire civic responsibility.

Additionally, the conference creates leadership opportunities for its student-athletes. It partners with James Russell Lowell Elementary School in Indianapolis, connecting its 18 member schools with classrooms that include mentorship and encouragement via virtual meetings.

Another one of its many initiatives are structured conversations with administrators, coaches, athletes and employees to gather feedback and to inform future strategies. Examples include conducting student-athlete experience exit surveys and hosting standing committees, commissions and leadership councils to discuss progress, share feedback and assess strategic alignment. The conference also hosts numerous inclusive programs such as United as One, the B1G Fellows Program, the Student-Athlete Issues Commission, The Women's Volleyball Mentorship Program and the CBS Sports Ambassador Program & Sports Journalism Initiative. The conference also promotes several awards programs, which includes the Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award to recognize student-athletes who demonstrate leadership, service and volunteerism.

Along with the Big Ten, Saint Michael's College athletics department was recognized in Division II, and Occidental College's athletics department was the Division III honoree.

Discover, Big Ten Present Custom Jackets To Jackie Robinson Award Honorees

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Presenting sponsor Discover will deliver custom letterwinner jackets to all 36 institutional winners of the 2025-26 Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award, the Big Ten announced Wednesday. Each university’s male and female honoree will receive a customized, one-of-one gift featuring unique school elements and visuals.

The first two custom jackets were presented in December at the Discover Big Ten Football Championship Game to 2025 national winners Dillon Fontus, from Maryland football, and Iowa wrestler Nanea Estrella.

Both of last year’s winners, and Sonya Pankey Robinson (Jackie Robinson’s granddaughter), attended the game as guests of Discover, seeing Indiana claim the title at Lucas Oil Stadium on their way to a perfect 16-0 campaign and CFP National Championship. The 2026 national winners will be announced later this spring from the cohort of 36 campus recipients.

In November, the Big Ten Conference announced the 36 student-athletes selected as institutional winners of the 2025-26 Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award presented by Discover. Now in its second year, the honor was created to recognize Big Ten student-athletes who strive to have a positive impact within their community in addition to excellence in competition.

Jackie Robinson was a standout student-athlete at UCLA, where he was the school’s first four-sport letter winner, excelling in football, basketball, track and field, and baseball. Beyond his athletic prowess, he continues to be recognized and honored for his contributions off the field: integrating Major League Baseball and his lifelong commitment to social justice. He is the embodiment of the Big Ten's mission to develop strong student leaders, and this program honors his legacy and core values of courage, determination, teamwork, persistence, integrity, citizenship, justice, commitment, and excellence. As Jackie famously said, “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.”

The Big Ten Conference’s commitment to athletics, academics and service goes back to the conference’s founding. UCLA's Gasparino Named NCBWA National Hitter of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week awards presented by The Game Headwear for the period ending Feb. 22.

UCLA junior outfielder Will Gasparino was named National Hitter of the Week, while Arkansas junior left-handed pitcher Colin Fisher and Oregon State sophomore right-handed pitcher Dax Whitney were named National Co-Pitchers of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

Gasparino enjoyed one of the most complete and explosive weeks in the young Division I season, going 7-for-13 with five home runs, 13 RBIs, 23 total bases, seven runs scored, four walks and two hit-by-pitches while anchoring the Bruins' sweep of No. 7 TCU.

The Los Angeles, California, native delivered a multi-homer performance in the 13-5 midweek win over Tulane on Tuesday and came up with another two-homer day in the 15-5 win over TCU to clinch the sweep in the series finale. Gasparino totaled a slugging percentage of 1.769 and an on-base percentage of .684 to lead the UCLA offense. He was also flawless defensively, converting all seven of his chances in the outfield.

Big Ten Announces 2026 Baseball Television Schedule

ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Big Ten Conference on Friday unveiled its 2026 baseball television schedule which will showcase games on the Big Ten Network (BTN) and FS1. BTN will carry 23 regular season games plus every game from the 2026 Big Ten Baseball Tournament Presented by IFS.ai.

Television coverage begins Feb. 20 on FS1 as No. 7-ranked TCU travels to top-ranked UCLA for an 8 p.m. ET first pitch.

The first BTN broadcast is slated for April 5 when cross-town rivals USC and UCLA meet at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles. The BTN schedule includes seven doubleheaders and features games involving all 17 Big Ten baseball programs.

BTN’s coverage culminates with the 2026 Big Ten Baseball Tournament Presented by IFS.ai, scheduled for May 19-24 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Neb.

All games that do not appear on BTN will be available on B1G+, BTN's subscription service for 2,700 more events, archives of classic games and original content. Fans can subscribe to B1G+ with an annual pass for $89.99 per year or a monthly pass for $12.99 per month.

New “We Are Here” spot highlights student success, economic impact

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Big Ten universities’ leading role in educating students and driving economic prosperity is featured the latest edition in the “We Are Here” series of :30 ads .

The new ad began airing during Big Ten basketball games and other winter sports in January. Students and alumni take center stage, sharing with viewers what their lives look like and what they have been able to accomplish thanks to their Big Ten university education. Seen on campuses and in communities nationwide, their experiences are living proof of the world-class educational opportunities they received, from learning alongside Nobel Prize–winning faculty to participating in internships and undergraduate research. The spot also highlights the universities’ broader impact through innovation, job creation and service.

Together, the 18 members of the Big Ten Conference are educating more than 810,000 students, preparing them for successful lives and careers. The Big Ten’s collective graduation rate is more than 20 points above the national average and the universities have more than 9.2 million living alumni.

The first ad in the “We Are Here” series began airing last fall and has generated more than 250 million impressions across Big Ten broadcasts to date, including during the College Football Playoff National Championship won by Indiana University. It focused on how Big Ten universities make America healthier, safer and more prosperous through everything from discovering new medical treatments to developing healthier foods to driving economic growth.

As with the first ad, the second spot was developed by a creative team made up of staff from Big Ten member universities under the auspices of the Big Ten Academic Alliance. Big Ten Releases Preseason Baseball Poll and Players to Watch List

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced its preseason baseball poll and players to watch list on Wednesday.

Coming off an appearance at the 2025 NCAA Men’s College World Series, UCLA is the unanimous choice to capture the 2026 Big Ten Baseball Championship, according to the Big Ten Preseason Poll. The Bruins received 17 first-place votes in balloting conducted by the conference’s head coaches.

UCLA, Oregon, USC and Nebraska (in that order) occupy the top spots in the poll – four programs that appeared in the NCAA Tournament last spring. Indiana and Iowa round out the poll which projected the top six spots.

UCLA is the nation’s top-ranked team in the Baseball America and D1Baseball preseason polls while Oregon is ranked as high as 13th by Perfect Game.

Coaches also selected three student-athletes from their respective squads to comprise the 51-member Big Ten Players to Watch List.

The watch list features seven players who earned All-Big Ten honors last season, including first teamers in Oregon’s Ryan Cooney and UCLA’s Roch Cholowsky. Cholowsky, the reigning Big Ten Player of the Year, was named National Player of the Year by the ABCA, Baseball America and Perfect Game last season.

The Big Ten baseball season commences Friday with Big Ten games beginning March 6.

Big Ten Conference Student-Athlete Issues Commission Calls for Limitations or Ban of Individual Prop Betting on College Athletics

ROSEMONT, Ill. — [February, 10, 2026] — The Big Ten Conference Student-Athlete Issues Commission (SAIC) today sent a letter to NCAA President Charlie Baker urging the NCAA to continue pushing for limitations or the outright elimination of proposition (“prop”) betting involving individual student-athletes competing in college athletics. The letter reinforces the Big Ten Conference’s unwavering commitment to protecting the well-being and safety of student-athletes across all 18 Big Ten campuses, and the integrity of intercollegiate athletics.

“The Big Ten Conference is proud to support our student-athletes in calling for the restriction or elimination of individual proposition wagers on college athletics,” said Big Ten Conference Commissioner Tony Petitti. "The Big Ten Conference appreciates the NCAA’s effort to eliminate these wagers and will continue to assist student-athletes as they deal with the challenges that result from proposition bets in college sports.”

President Baker recently sent letters to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and to State Gambling Commissions calling for amended state laws and regulations to better-protect student-athletes.

The letter from the Big Ten Conference SAIC outlines the growing concerns around the rise of individual performance prop wagering in college sports, including:

Increased harassment student-athletes experience because of wagers on individual-performance proposition wagers
Negative impact individual-performance proposition betting has on student-athletes’ mental health
Accusations of impropriety, even when unfounded, damage the student-athlete experience
Potentially jeopardizing the integrity of athletic competition

“While we understand that sports betting is becoming increasingly more common across the country and allows for states to generate increased tax revenue, prop betting represents unique risks at the college level,” the Big Ten Conference Student-Athlete Issues Commission wrote. “We believe protecting student-athletes must be a priority. Limiting or eliminating prop betting on college athletics would be a meaningful step toward reducing harassment, protecting mental well-being, and preserving the integrity of college competition.”

The Big Ten Conference SAIC was founded in 1994. SAIC members take an active role in monthly meetings discussing the issues most important to Big Ten Conference student-athletes and highlighting ongoing initiatives on their respective campuses. SAIC executive leadership members also represent Big Ten student-athletes in front of the Conference’s Joint Group council and represent the Big Ten Conference on the NCAA’s Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where they review NCAA activities, proposed legislation and offer feedback on behalf of the Big Ten’s student-athletes. Student-athletes are nominated by their institution and appointed by the Conference’s Joint Group Executive Committee to serve on the commission for one academic year.

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference on Wednesday announced the 36 student-athletes selected as campus winners of the 2025-26 Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award presented by Discover. Now in its second year, the honor was created to recognize Big Ten student-athletes who strive to have a positive impact within their community in addition to excellence in competition.

From the collection of 36 local winners, two overall conference honorees will be selected and announced in the spring of 2026.

Dillan Fontus of Maryland Football and Nanea Estrella, a member of the Iowa Women's Wrestling team, were named the inaugural national winners last spring. Both will be hosted in Indianapolis next month and recognized on the field during the 2025 Discover Big Ten Football Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, December 6 (8pm ET; FOX).

Jackie Robinson was a standout student-athlete at UCLA, where he was the school’s first four-sport letter winner, excelling in football, basketball, track and field, and baseball. Beyond his athletic prowess, he continues to be recognized and honored for his contributions off the field: integrating Major League Baseball and his lifelong commitment to social justice. He is the embodiment of the Big Ten's mission to develop strong student leaders, and we honor his legacy and core values of courage, determination, teamwork, persistence, integrity, citizenship, justice, commitment, and excellence. As Jackie famously said, “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.”

Honorees were selected based on the following criteria:

Demonstrated Impact: Significant and tangible contributions to community projects or causes, including measurable outcomes or positive changes resulting from their involvement.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with others, including peers, organizations, and community members, to achieve common goals and enhance community impact.
Consistency and Commitment: Ongoing and consistent participation in community service activities over an extended period of time.
Visibility and Advocacy: Efforts to raise awareness and advocate for important groups or causes, leveraging their platform to promote positive change and engage others.

ROSEMONT, Ill. – A total of 39 players with ties to the Big Ten Conference were selected in the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft presented by Nike, which took place July 13-14 at the Coca-Cola Roxy in Cumberland, Georgia.

Mitch Voit of Michigan went 38th overall to the New York Mets as one of six players chosen in the first three rounds on Sunday. Sixteen Big Ten institutions had players selected with Indiana producing a conference-high six picks (which includes an incoming player) while Oregon and Penn State had five each.
