Illinois and USC Claim Men’s Tennis Weekly Awards

<div class="payload-richtext">OJAI, Calif. – The Big Ten Conference is coming back to The Ojai.  This time it’s the top 10 men’s teams that will descend on historic Libbey Park as the 116th Big Ten Conference Men’s Tennis Tournament takes center stage, beginning Wednesday, April 22, and culminating with the championship match under the lights on Saturday evening, April 25.  </a> urging the NCAA to continue pushing for limitations or the outright elimination of proposition (“prop”) betting involving individual student-athletes competing in college athletics. The letter reinforces the Big Ten Conference’s unwavering commitment to protecting the well-being and safety of student-athletes across all 18 Big Ten campuses, and the integrity of intercollegiate athletics.“The Big Ten Conference is proud to support our student-athletes in calling for the restriction or elimination of individual proposition wagers on college athletics,” said Big Ten Conference Commissioner Tony Petitti. Limiting or eliminating prop betting on college athletics would be a meaningful step toward reducing harassment, protecting mental well-being, and preserving the integrity of college competition.”The Big Ten Conference SAIC was founded in 1994. SAIC members take an active role in monthly meetings discussing the issues most important to Big Ten Conference student-athletes and highlighting ongoing initiatives on their respective campuses. Illinois and Ohio State Presented Men’s Tennis Weekly Awards

<div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. — The second half of the 2025-26 men's college tennis season is underway as schools engage in nonconference dual matches, preparing for the conference schedule ahead. At the same time, ten teams from the Big Ten have been invited to the ITA Kickoff Weekend (Jan. 23-26), which serves as a qualifier for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship. A total of 56 teams will compete for 14 berths into the national team indoors. Kickoff Weekend includes five Big Ten programs ranked in the ITA National Poll — No. 6 Ohio State and No. 10 UCLA will host regional qualifiers while No. 21 USC, No. 24 Michigan State and No. 25 Illinois travel to regional sites. Big Ten Schools to Compete at ITA Kickoff Weekend

<div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Big Ten Conference today released its second annual Players to Watch List for men's tennis. The list recognizes 14 student-athletes, one from each Big Ten institution, and includes a pair of returning 2024-25 All-Big Ten performers in UCLA's Rudy Quan (first team) and William Mroz of Illinois (second team). Also recognized were five players who appeared at the 2025 NCAA Individual Championships in November: Quan (singles/doubles), Indiana’s Sam Landau (singles/doubles), Michigan’s Max Dahlin (singles/doubles), Ohio State’s Nikita Filin (doubles) and Washington’s Soham Purohit (singles). Big Ten Conference Reveals Men’s Tennis Players to Watch List

<div class="payload-richtext">Photo courtesy of Ohio State Athletics ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Ohio State doubles team of Nikita Filin and Brandon Carpico posted a runner-up finish at the 2025 NCAA Men’s Tennis Individual Championships, which concluded Sunday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. Filin/Carpico (15-3) fell to the Virginia tandem of Mans Dahlberg and Dylan Dietrich by the scores of 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. Ohio State’s appearance marked the fifth-straight year a Big Ten school had reached the doubles final. Today’s match closed the fall campaign for Big Ten Tennis. The college tennis season resumes in January with team duals.</div>

Ohio State Earns Runner-up Finish at NCAA Doubles Championship

<div class="payload-richtext">Photo courtesy of Ohio State Athletics ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Ohio State doubles team of sophomore Nikita Filin and redshirt sophomore Brandon Carpico will play for a national championship at the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Individual Championships Sunday in Orlando, Fla. Filin/Carpico will meet Virginia’s Mans Dahlberg and Dylan Dietrich in the NCAA Doubles Championship Final at 12:30 p.m. ET.  The match from the USTA National Campus will be streamed on ESPN+. Filin/Carpico have won four matches in as many days and stand 15-2 on the season following a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 win over Penn’s Manfredi Graziani and Aaron Sandler Saturday in the NCAA semifinals. A Big Ten Conference entry has now reached the NCAA Doubles Final five-straight years. Ohio State’s Robert Cash and senior JJ Tracy were the most recent duo to win a national title, doing so in the spring of 2024. </div>
