Minnesota and USC Earn Women’s Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

Trojans’ Abraham and Di Maria and Gophers’ Widerstrom collect weekly recognition

Swimmer of the Week
Minna Abraham, USC 
Sr. – Budapest, Hungary 

  • Won every event she competed in at the USC Invitational, including two individual events and four relays  
  • Touched first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:43.72 and finished first in the 200-yard IM in 1:58.08 
  • Contributed to four USC relay wins including the 200-yard free relay, 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard free relay and the 400-yard medley relay
  • Last USC Swimmer of the Week: Minna Abraham (Nov. 13, 2024) 

Diver of the Week
Elna Widerstrom, Minnesota  
Sr. - Lund, Sweden 

  • Helped lead the Gophers to a 180-120 win over Iowa to begin the season 
  • Placed first on the 3-meter springboard with a 340.35  
  • Finished first on the 1-meter springboard with a 305.63  
  • Last Minnesota Diver of the Week: Vivi Del Angel (Feb. 4, 2026) 

 
Freshman of the Week  
Ludovica Di Maria, USC 
Milano, Italy  

  • Won two individual events and four relays during her Trojan debut at the USC Invitational  
  • Won the 50 free in 22.71 and the 100 free in 49.57  
  • Finished second in the 100 back in 53.79 
  • Helped USC to relay wins in the 200 free relay, the 400 free relay and the 400 medley relay, anchoring three of the four relays she swam on 
  • Last USC Freshman of the Week: Ludovica Di Maria (Oct. 14, 2026)
