It’s history for Ohio State! The third-ranked Buckeyes have new hardware in Columbus after clinching the Big Ten Women’s Soccer title, while Wisconsin pulled off a surprise against last year’s champs in Madison. This all comes with seeding and the final bids for the conference tournament on the line. Check it out.
Nine Years in the Making: Buckeyes Clinch Outright Big Ten Title
With a decisive 3-0 win over Illinois on Sunday, No. 3 Ohio State clinched its third Big Ten title — its first outright in nearly a decade — and the No. 1 seed in the 2026 Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament Presented by Allstate.
It was none other than the team's leading scorer Amanda Schlueter (15 goals) who got the Buckeyes on the board off a nasty through ball from Micayla Decker in the 19th minute.
An Illini own goal put OSU up 2-0 at the half before Elle Britt sealed the deal with a top-shelf banger in the 84th minute. The score came off an assist from Schlueter, marking her 35th point of the season (ranks second in the Big Ten).
Riding the thrill of a championship win and an eight-match win streak heading into the final game of the regular season, the 14-1-1 Buckeyes are one of the hottest teams in college soccer.
"We’ve had the same mindset all year, and that’s why we’re in this position,” Schlueter said postgame. “Me and my senior class came in freshman year, and we said all we wanted to do was win a Big Ten [title]... and we just did that.”
With the hardware in hand, we’ll see if Lori Walker-Hock's crew can keep that momentum going as it takes the pitch against Michigan on Friday.
“We’ll celebrate and enjoy what we’ve accomplished, and then you have to roll up your sleeves and get back to work,” the coach said. “We’re not done yet." Get the story from OSU.
Badgers Stun No. 12-Ranked Huskies
In a wild first half that featured all of the game’s goals, Wisconsin defeated No. 12 Washington and never trailed in a 2-1 upset. Jadea Collin’s first career goal got the Badgers on the board in the 17th minute. Her lethal banger from beyond the 18 tipped off the glove of keeper Tanner Ijams and grazed the bottom of the crossbar to put Wisconsin up 1-0.
The Huskies responded in the 41stminute with a tally from Maylen Montoya, but the Badgers countered just two minutes later. Jenna Baumann sent a beautiful cross in the box, and Erin Connolly’s header finish put Wisconsin back on top at the break.
Both teams threatened down the stretch, but saves from Ijams and Drew Stover kept the score at 2-1 Badgers to close out Wisconsin’s first win over Washington since 2018. Read the Badgers’ breakdown.
Final Tournament Bids Up for Grabs
Along with the Buckeyes, No. 5 Michigan State, No. 10 UCLA, No. 12 Washington, No. 22 Purdue, Penn State and Wisconsin have all clinched coveted conference tournament bids. While Michigan and Iowa battle for the last spot, the other tournament teams have one last shot to climb up the conference ranks. Check out the full standings heading into Friday’s final matchups.
