Michigan State, Nebraska, Oregon and Wisconsin Collect Big Ten Volleyball Weekly Awards

Huskers’ Jackson, Ducks’ Sheppard, Spartans’ Long and Badgers’ Flanagan receive weekly recognition

Player of the Week
Andi Jackson, Nebraska 
Sr. – MB – Brighton, Colo. 

  • Led No. 1 Nebraska to a 2-0 week at No. 16 Penn State and Maryland 

  • Averaged 3.83 kills/set on .526 hitting, 1.00 aces/set and 2.00 blocks/set 

  • Totaled 11 kills on .625 hitting with a season-high seven blocks and a dig in a sweep of the 16th-ranked Nittany Lions 

  • Posted 12 kills, six service aces, five blocks and four digs in a sweep at Maryland 

  • Tied a rally-scoring era program record with six aces in a three-set match against the Terrapins, becoming the fourth-ever Husker to do so and the first since 2015 

  • Earns second consecutive Big Ten Player of the Week honor

Defensive Player of the Week 
Reese Sheppard, Oregon 
So. - L – Puyallup, Wash. 

  • Averaged 5.00 digs per set in the Ducks’ 2-0 week with wins over No. 10 Purdue and RV Illinois 

  • Had 18 digs and four assists in a reverse sweep against the Boilermakers, tallying 13 of her 18 digs in the final three sets as Oregon erased an 0-2 set deficit. With Sheppard leading the Oregon defense, the Ducks held Purdue to a .184 hitting percentage  

  • Tallied a career high 27 digs in a four-set win over Illinois, helping hold the Fighting Illini to a .214 hitting percentage, while adding two assists and an ace  

  • Last Oregon Defensive Player of the Week: Onye Ofoegbu (Sept. 23, 2024) 

Setter of the Week  
Malayah Long, Michigan State 
R-So. – S – Lincoln, Neb. 

  • Helped Michigan State to a 2-0 weekend with wins at RV UCLA and RV USC 

  • Set the Spartans to a combined .316 hitting efficiency, averaging 12.13 assists per set and totaling 97 assists 

  • Had 32 assists, five digs and two blocks in Michigan State’s win at UCLA, its first Big Ten road sweep since the 2024 season 

  • Posted a career-high 65 assists and had nine digs, three kills, one ace and one block at USC as the Spartans hit .333 

  • Michigan State’s 3-1 start to Big Ten play is its best since 2023, while its 13-1 overall start is the best since 2013

Freshman of the Week
Audrey Flanagan, Wisconsin 
OH – Redondo Beach, Calif. 

  • Paced the Badger offense with back-to-back double-figure kill performances against two ranked teams in No. 15 Indiana (W, 3-2) and No. 20 Minnesota (W, 3-1) 

  • Totaled 31 kills while hitting .329 (31-7-73), averaging 3.44 kills per set, adding 1.78 digs per set and 3.94 points per set 

  • Against Indiana, Flanagan tallied 17 kills with just two errors to hit .441, adding eight digs 

  • At Minnesota, Flanagan put down 14 kills and recorded eight digs
