Two of the Big Ten’s top teams added ranked wins to their resumes behind star performances and high-powered offenses on Friday night.  

Seven-Minute Outburst Leads Spartans to Victory 

On Alumni Night at DeMartin Stadium in East Lansing, No. 11 Michigan State made its former players proud with a 3-0 win over No. 13 Wisconsin. 

A Wisconsin red card in the 35th minute of the match led to an offensive explosion from the Spartans, keyed by senior forward Richie Ludwig. Ludwig bookended a seven-minute span where Michigan State scored all three of its goals. Ludwig netted his first goal of the game (and the season) after he redirected a cross from Brandon Munson. Less than two minutes later, Dominic Dono scored his first collegiate goal, and the Spartans then closed the scoring stretch with an upfield rush that gave Ludwig the brace.

Defensively, Michigan State held Wisconsin to just one shot on goal in the match. The Spartans have yet to allow a score in three Big Ten games (and victories) so far. More from East Lansing. 

Ramsey’s Tear Continues in Huskies’ Win Over Rutgers 

The Washington offense was humming on Friday night against No. 22 Rutgers thanks in no small part to national scoring leader Zach Ramsey’s two goals, as the Huskies cooled off the red-hot Scarlet Knights 4-1.  

The 2025 College Cup Most Outstanding Player scored Washington’s first two goals of the night in the first half to give him 14 for the season – the first coming to his foot off a header followed by a penalty kick less than five minutes later. Zach Mastrodimos got Rutgers on the board in the 68th minute to close the gap, but the Huskies sealed it with goals from Osato Enabulele and Alex Hall over the final 15 minutes.

After a bumpy 2-2-1 start to the campaign, the defending national champions seem to be rounding into form with four wins in their last five contests – including back-to-back victories over ranked teams. Another ranked opponent in No. 13 Wisconsin awaits this week. The Huskies’ recap. 

Elsewhere on Friday night in the Big Ten: 

• Oliver Moller-Jensen scored both goals for No. 2 Indiana in its 2-1 victory against Penn State. The Hoosiers remain unbeaten this season. 

• UCLA traveled to College Park and earned a 2-2 draw with No. 4 Maryland behind tallies from Jaime Amaro and Victor Ciaurriz. The Bruins finish their East Coast road trip tonight against Penn State. 

• Despite facing eight shots from Michigan, Northwestern won 1-0 to earn its second Big Ten win of the season.  

• Ryan Hannosh scored in the 87th minute for Ohio State to give the Buckeyes a 1-1 tie against George Mason.
