<div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced its 2026 women’s lacrosse individual awards on Tuesday, following a vote of the league’s coaches. Johns Hopkins and Northwestern claimed two awards each, as the Blue Jays’ Lacey Downey and Reagan O’Brien were named Midfielder and Defender of the Year, respectively, while the Wildcats’ Madison Taylor and Kelly Amonte Hiller repeated as Attacker and Coach of the Year. Maryland’s JJ Suriano was named Goaltender of the Year, while Penn State’s Rocquette Allen earned Freshman of the Year honors. Taylor collected her second consecutive Attacker of the Year award and the fifth honor for the Wildcats in the last six years after posting 111 points and 80 goals, both second in the country. The senior recorded at least five goals on six occasions and surpassed eight points seven times, including a pair of 10-point outings against Ohio State and Oregon.Downey scored the first Midfielder of the Year honor for the Blue Jays. Downey leads the team with 90 points on 49 goals and a team-high 41 assists to go with 57 ground ball, 40 caused turnovers, and 39 draw controls. The junior ranks third in the country in free position goals per game (1.00), eighth in points, and ninth in ground balls per game (3.17), and scored at least one goal in 17 of Johns Hopkins’ 18 games.  O’Brien claimed her second straight Defender of the Year honor after another record-breaking campaign. One season after setting an NCAA record with 103 caused turnovers, O’Brien’s 241 career caused turnovers have established a new NCAA career mark. The senior has forced a Division I-best 75 miscues on the season to go with 3.88 ground balls per game, good for fifth in the nation.Suriano becomes the third Maryland netminder named Goaltender of the Year, joining Megan Taylor (2016-19) and Emily Sterling (2022-23). The junior’s 197 saves on the season rank second in the country, while her .517 save percentage is good for third. The Baltimore native recorded double-figure saves in 12 of 19 games, including a season-high 16 stops in a season-opening win at Syracuse.Allen joined Madison Carter (2016), Kristin O’Neill (2021), and Sydney Manning (2024), as one of four Nittany Lions to earn Freshman of the Year accolades. A six-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week, Allen is tied for the team lead with 45 goals, while her 67 total points rank third. The Lone Tree, Colo. native has recorded multiple goals in 13 of 18 contests, including a quartet of four-goal performances. Amonte Hiller notched her fourth consecutive Coach of the Year honor and sixth of her career. The Wildcats claimed both the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships, the fourth straight year the program has completed the double.  </a>ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Despite watching a four-goal cushion evaporate in the final 10 minutes of regulation, the top seeded Northwestern Wildcats claimed their fourth consecutive Big Ten Tournament win with an 8-7 overtime victory over No. 2 seed Maryland on Sunday afternoon at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich. The win marks Northwestern’s sixth tournament crown since 2019 and secures the Big Ten’s automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament.Northwestern goaltender Jenika Cuocco was named Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player after matching a career high with 18 saves, including three in the overtime period alone. Maryland scored the game’s opening goal just over two minutes into the game on the first of two Kori Edmondson goals. Northwestern. The Wildcats responded four minutes later, as the first of Aditi Foster’s two goals sparked a run of five unanswered Northwestern markers. Northwestern built its lead on the strength of a dominant defensive performance, holding Maryland scoreless for nearly 33 minutes spanning the first, second, and third quarters. Maryland goals by Maisy Clevenger and Kristen Shanahan sandwiched Foster’s second goal, pulling the Terrapins to within 6-3 with 15 minutes to play.The Terrapins found their offensive rhythm in the fourth, as four different players marked the score sheet, including Keeley Block’s goal with 1:46 to play leveling the score at 7-7. Maryland had chances to score the game-winner in the extra period, but Cuocco was up to the task, recording three of her 18 saves, including a pair of point-blank stops with less than 75 seconds left in overtime.Cuocco’s saves gave the Wildcats one final chance before the end of the period and Northwestern made the most of the chance, as Mckenzie Brown found Annabel Child for the championship winning goal in the final second of the overtime period.Edmondson led the Terrapins with two goals, while Kristen Shanahan added a goal and three assists.  </a>ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced the full bracket for the 2026 Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, presented by Allstate, set to take place April 22-26 at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, Mich.Northwestern earned the tournament’s No. 1 seed after clinching its fourth consecutive straight Big Ten title. Along with the top seed, the Wildcats have also earned a first-round bye and will open tournament play on Friday, April 24 with a semifinal contest.Maryland claimed the No. 2 seed over Johns Hopkins by virtue of a head-to-head victory, while tournament host, Michigan, claimed the No. 4 seed. Penn State’s regular season victory over Rutgers secured the No. 5 seed for the Nittany Lions, with Ohio State claiming the No. 7 seed.The tournament will open on Wednesday, April 22 with three quarterfinal games, with the winners advancing to Friday’s semifinal round. No. 4 Michigan and No. 5 Penn State will open the tripleheader at 12 p.m. ET, followed by No. 2 Maryland and No. 7 Ohio State at 3 p.m. ET, and No. 3 Johns Hopkins and No. 6 Rutgers at 6 p.m. ET. All three quarterfinal matchups will be broadcast on B1G+.Wednesday’s quarterfinal winners and Northwestern will advance to Friday’s semifinal round. <div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Northwestern Wildcats clinched at least a share of the 2026 Big Ten women’s lacrosse title tonight by virtue of Michigan’s win over Maryland at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich. This marks the fourth consecutive Big Ten crown for the Wildcats and the fifth overall, with each coming since 2021.Northwestern, ranked No. 2 in this week's IWLCA Coaches Poll, will enter this weekend’s regular season finale with a 6-1 record and a one game lead over No. 3 Maryland. No. 6 Johns Hopkins completed its regular season with a 6-2 mark in conference play after tonight’s 10-9 overtime win at No. 19 Penn State.The Wildcats can secure the outright title on Saturday with a win at No. 11 Michigan. The opening draw is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET and will be aired on Big Ten Network.The regular season champion will also earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, presented by Allstate, and a bye into the semifinal round. The tournament will get underway on Wednesday, April 22 with three quarterfinal games. The three quarterfinal winners and the No. 1 seed will advance to Friday’s semifinal round, with Friday’s winners meeting on Sunday for the Big Ten Tournament title and the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Northwestern Claims Share of Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Title (041626)

<div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. – Seven Big Ten women’s lacrosse student-athletes were selected in the 2026 Women’s Lacrosse League College Draft on Wednesday night.Players from four Big Ten programs were taken in the draft’s four rounds, with Northwestern leading the way with three draft picks. Two players from Maryland were drafted, while Johns Hopkins and Michigan had one selection each.Northwestern attacker Madison Taylor was the first overall selection in the draft by the California Palms.The Women’s Lacrosse League is a professional lacrosse sixes league, the sole lacrosse league for women in the United States.
