Big Ten Network Presents 2026 Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Schedules

The Big Ten Network's 2026 men's and women's lacrosse television coverage begins this weekend, broadcasting at least 29 games and streaming more than 80 additional matchups on B1G+.

Big Ten men’s lacrosse coverage kicks off Saturday, March 14, with a meeting between Virginia and No. 10 Maryland at 1 p.m. ET from College Park. A doubleheader on Friday, April 17 highlights the conference schedule, featuring Michigan at No. 8 Ohio State at 6 p.m. ET, followed by Rutgers hosting No. 9 Penn State at 8 p.m. ET. BTN will also televise the semifinals and championship game of the Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Tournament from Rutgers, April 30-May 2.

Coverage of Big Ten women’s lacrosse begins with a doubleheader Thursday, March 19, as Rutgers matches up with Ohio State at 6 p.m. ET and No. 3 Maryland hosts Penn at 8 p.m. ET. On Saturday April 4, USC will face No. 4 Northwestern at 3 p.m. ET, from Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium as part of the second annual Lacrosse Day in Chicago. The final day of the regular season on Saturday, April 18 features a doubleheader with No. 3 Maryland at Ohio State at 4 p.m. ET, followed by No. 7 Michigan hosting No. 4 Northwestern at 6 p.m. ET. BTN will televise the semifinals and championship game of the Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament presented by Allstate from Ann Artbor, Mich., April 24-26.

Big Ten Network’s men’s lacrosse coverage will be led by play-by-play broadcasters Joe Beninati, Jack Kizer and Joey Lindstrom, with analysis provided by Mark Dixon and Mitchell Pehlke. Dean Linke, Jason Knapp and Dixon will primarily handle play-by-play responsibilities for women’s lacrosse coverage, while Taylor Cummings, Abby Bosco and Haley Polk will be among the analysts in the booth.

Four Big Ten men’s teams are ranked in the most recent USILA Division I men’s poll, led by No. 8 Ohio State, and followed by No. 9 Penn State, No. 10 Maryland and No. 14 Johns Hopkins. The latest IWLCA Division I women’s poll includes five Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25, including No. 3 Maryland, No. 4 Northwestern, No. 7 Michigan, No. 8 Johns Hopkins and No. 18 Penn State.

Big Ten Receives 2026 NCAA/MOAA Opportunities & Impact Award

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- The Big Ten Conference has been named the Division I winner of the 2026 NCAA/MOAA Opportunities and Impact Award, the NCAA and Minority Opportunities Athletic Association — an affiliate of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics — announced Thursday.

The award recognizes and celebrates the initiatives, programs and efforts of athletics departments and conference offices in Divisions I, II and III that embrace environments of belonging and well-being and elevate the student-athlete voice in intercollegiate athletics communities. NCAA and MOAA representatives will present the awards June 7-10 in Las Vegas during the MOAA Symposium.

"We're proud to accept this honor on behalf of our 18 schools, whose support makes these initiatives possible," Big Ten Conference Commissioner Tony Petitti said.

Omar Brown, Big Ten senior vice president for community and impact, added, "This humbling recognition is a direct result of the leadership and alignment we have from Commissioner Petitti, throughout the conference office, and in collaboration with our campuses. Big Ten student-athletes always are aiming for excellence in competition, in the classroom and in their communities. We will continue to build on this foundation to create transformational opportunities for their development and deliver impact to the many locales we call home across the nation throughout the year."

The Big Ten Conference continues to engage, educate and empower its student-athletes, coaches, administrators and its broader community base with programs, initiatives and engagements that make a difference and encourage positive change. For four years, student-athletes from Big Ten schools have traveled to Alabama for an immersive journey that included learning about the Civil Rights Movement, visits to historic sites, community service projects and panel sessions with local leaders. The Big Ten has also added new elements to the transformative experience each year to deepen understanding and inspire civic responsibility.

Additionally, the conference creates leadership opportunities for its student-athletes. It partners with James Russell Lowell Elementary School in Indianapolis, connecting its 18 member schools with classrooms that include mentorship and encouragement via virtual meetings.

Another one of its many initiatives are structured conversations with administrators, coaches, athletes and employees to gather feedback and to inform future strategies. Examples include conducting student-athlete experience exit surveys and hosting standing committees, commissions and leadership councils to discuss progress, share feedback and assess strategic alignment. The conference also hosts numerous inclusive programs such as United as One, the B1G Fellows Program, the Student-Athlete Issues Commission, The Women's Volleyball Mentorship Program and the CBS Sports Ambassador Program & Sports Journalism Initiative. The conference also promotes several awards programs, which includes the Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award to recognize student-athletes who demonstrate leadership, service and volunteerism.

Along with the Big Ten, Saint Michael's College athletics department was recognized in Division II, and Occidental College's athletics department was the Division III honoree.

"This honor is an acknowledgment of NCAA member schools and conference offices that intentionally create spaces and opportunities for all student-athletes, coaches and administrators to feel seen, heard and valued," said Felicia Martin, NCAA senior vice president of inclusion, education and community engagement. Discover, Big Ten Present Custom Jackets To Jackie Robinson Award Honorees

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Presenting sponsor Discover will deliver custom letterwinner jackets to all 36 institutional winners of the 2025-26 Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award, the Big Ten announced Wednesday. Each university’s male and female honoree will receive a customized, one-of-one gift featuring unique school elements and visuals.

The first two custom jackets were presented in December at the Discover Big Ten Football Championship Game to 2025 national winners Dillon Fontus, from Maryland football, and Iowa wrestler Nanea Estrella.

Both of last year’s winners, and Sonya Pankey Robinson (Jackie Robinson’s granddaughter), attended the game as guests of Discover, seeing Indiana claim the title at Lucas Oil Stadium on their way to a perfect 16-0 campaign and CFP National Championship. The 2026 national winners will be announced later this spring from the cohort of 36 campus recipients.

In November, the Big Ten Conference announced the 36 student-athletes selected as institutional winners of the 2025-26 Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award presented by Discover. Now in its second year, the honor was created to recognize Big Ten student-athletes who strive to have a positive impact within their community in addition to excellence in competition.

Jackie Robinson was a standout student-athlete at UCLA, where he was the school’s first four-sport letter winner, excelling in football, basketball, track and field, and baseball. Beyond his athletic prowess, he continues to be recognized and honored for his contributions off the field: integrating Major League Baseball and his lifelong commitment to social justice. He is the embodiment of the Big Ten's mission to develop strong student leaders, and this program honors his legacy and core values of courage, determination, teamwork, persistence, integrity, citizenship, justice, commitment, and excellence. As Jackie famously said, “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.”

The Big Ten Conference’s commitment to athletics, academics and service goes back to the conference’s founding. New “We Are Here” spot highlights student success, economic impact

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Big Ten universities’ leading role in educating students and driving economic prosperity is featured the latest edition in the “We Are Here” series of :30 ads .

The new ad began airing during Big Ten basketball games and other winter sports in January. Students and alumni take center stage, sharing with viewers what their lives look like and what they have been able to accomplish thanks to their Big Ten university education. Seen on campuses and in communities nationwide, their experiences are living proof of the world-class educational opportunities they received, from learning alongside Nobel Prize–winning faculty to participating in internships and undergraduate research. The spot also highlights the universities’ broader impact through innovation, job creation and service.

Together, the 18 members of the Big Ten Conference are educating more than 810,000 students, preparing them for successful lives and careers. The Big Ten’s collective graduation rate is more than 20 points above the national average and the universities have more than 9.2 million living alumni.

The first ad in the “We Are Here” series began airing last fall and has generated more than 250 million impressions across Big Ten broadcasts to date, including during the College Football Playoff National Championship won by Indiana University. It focused on how Big Ten universities make America healthier, safer and more prosperous through everything from discovering new medical treatments to developing healthier foods to driving economic growth.

As with the first ad, the second spot was developed by a creative team made up of staff from Big Ten member universities under the auspices of the Big Ten Academic Alliance. Big Ten Conference Student-Athlete Issues Commission Calls for Limitations or Ban of Individual Prop Betting on College Athletics

ROSEMONT, Ill. — [February, 10, 2026] — The Big Ten Conference Student-Athlete Issues Commission (SAIC) today sent a letter to NCAA President Charlie Baker urging the NCAA to continue pushing for limitations or the outright elimination of proposition (“prop”) betting involving individual student-athletes competing in college athletics. The letter reinforces the Big Ten Conference’s unwavering commitment to protecting the well-being and safety of student-athletes across all 18 Big Ten campuses, and the integrity of intercollegiate athletics.

“The Big Ten Conference is proud to support our student-athletes in calling for the restriction or elimination of individual proposition wagers on college athletics,” said Big Ten Conference Commissioner Tony Petitti. "The Big Ten Conference appreciates the NCAA’s effort to eliminate these wagers and will continue to assist student-athletes as they deal with the challenges that result from proposition bets in college sports.”

President Baker recently sent letters to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and to State Gambling Commissions calling for amended state laws and regulations to better-protect student-athletes.

The letter from the Big Ten Conference SAIC outlines the growing concerns around the rise of individual performance prop wagering in college sports, including:

Increased harassment student-athletes experience because of wagers on individual-performance proposition wagers
Negative impact individual-performance proposition betting has on student-athletes’ mental health
Accusations of impropriety, even when unfounded, damage the student-athlete experience
Potentially jeopardizing the integrity of athletic competition

“While we understand that sports betting is becoming increasingly more common across the country and allows for states to generate increased tax revenue, prop betting represents unique risks at the college level,” the Big Ten Conference Student-Athlete Issues Commission wrote. “We believe protecting student-athletes must be a priority. Limiting or eliminating prop betting on college athletics would be a meaningful step toward reducing harassment, protecting mental well-being, and preserving the integrity of college competition.”

The Big Ten Conference SAIC was founded in 1994. SAIC members take an active role in monthly meetings discussing the issues most important to Big Ten Conference student-athletes and highlighting ongoing initiatives on their respective campuses. SAIC executive leadership members also represent Big Ten student-athletes in front of the Conference’s Joint Group council and represent the Big Ten Conference on the NCAA’s Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where they review NCAA activities, proposed legislation and offer feedback on behalf of the Big Ten’s student-athletes. Student-athletes are nominated by their institution and appointed by the Conference’s Joint Group Executive Committee to serve on the commission for one academic year.

Wildcats Tabbed as Big Ten Preseason Favorites

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Northwestern is the unanimous favorite to win its third consecutive Big Ten Conference women’s lacrosse regular season title, according to a vote of the league’s coaches.

The Wildcats are followed in the poll by Maryland in second, with Johns Hopkins and Michigan in third and fourth. Penn State and USC were selected fifth and sixth, respectively, followed by Rutgers, Ohio State, and Oregon.

Ranked No. 2 in the 2026 KANE Women’s Division I Media Preseason Poll, Northwestern claimed the 2025 Big Ten title with a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play before capturing the tournament championship with thrilling 8-7 win at Maryland. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA Final Round for the sixth consecutive season, making their third straight title game appearance.

The conference also unveiled the 2026 Big Ten Players to Watch List, as selected by the league’s coaches. Nine players who earned All-Big Ten honors in 2025, including last season’s Attacker, Midfielder, Defender, and Freshman of the Year, were included among the Players to Watch.

The 2026 Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament will take place at the University of Michigan Lacrosse Stadium in Ann Arbor, beginning with three quarterfinal games on April 22. The quarterfinal winners along with the top seed will advance to the semifinal round on Friday, April 24, with the championship game contested two days later.

Big Ten Announces Women’s Lacrosse Television Schedule

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Network (BTN) will air 16 Big Ten women’s lacrosse games during the 2026 season, the network recently announced. The schedule will include 13 regular season games, along with the semifinals and championship games of the 2026 Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament presented by Allstate.

The network’s women’s lacrosse coverage will begin with a doubleheader on Thursday, March 19. Rutgers will visit Columbus to face Ohio State at 6 p.m. ET, with Maryland hosting Penn in the nightcap at 8 p.m. ET. The broadcast schedule also includes doubleheaders on Thursday, April 9, Thursday, April 16, and Saturday, April 18, the final day of the regular season.

Each team will have at least two games broadcast on BTN, with Maryland, Northwestern, and Ohio State leading the league with four appearances each, one more than Michigan.

BTN will also broadcast the Big Ten Tournament semifinals and championship game from Michigan’s U-M Lacrosse Stadium in Ann Arbor on April 24 and 26.

In addition to the Big Ten Network linear lineup, Big Ten games and nonconference contests will be streamed on B1G+, the network’s subscription streaming service, providing access to stream 2,700 more games and next-day on-demand archives.

Dillan Fontus of Maryland Football and Nanea Estrella, a member of the Iowa Women's Wrestling team, were named the inaugural national winners last spring. Both will be hosted in Indianapolis next month and recognized on the field during the 2025 Discover Big Ten Football Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, December 6 (8pm ET; FOX).

Jackie Robinson was a standout student-athlete at UCLA, where he was the school’s first four-sport letter winner, excelling in football, basketball, track and field, and baseball. Beyond his athletic prowess, he continues to be recognized and honored for his contributions off the field: integrating Major League Baseball and his lifelong commitment to social justice. He is the embodiment of the Big Ten's mission to develop strong student leaders, and we honor his legacy and core values of courage, determination, teamwork, persistence, integrity, citizenship, justice, commitment, and excellence. The Big Ten and Allstate Unveil New Partnership to Elevate Women’s Sports

CHICAGO, Ill. – Allstate, the Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Network (BTN) today announced the creation of the Allstate Big Ten Women’s Championship Series, a new competition designed to spotlight and celebrate excellence in women’s athletics across the conference. The championship series is part of a first-of-its kind, multi-year partnership that establishes Allstate as the Official Insurance Partner of the Big Ten Conference and reflects Allstate’s 20-year legacy of supporting college athletics.

With the partnership:

The Allstate Big Ten Women’s Championship Series will be created. This year-long competition among Big Ten schools is designed to highlight excellence across women’s athletics, with schools earning points based on their teams’ performance in regular and postseason play. At the end of the academic year, the school with the highest point total will be recognized as the overall champion.
Allstate becomes the title sponsor of the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament, taking place March 4-8 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Allstate will present all 12 Big Ten Women’s Olympic Sports championships and tournaments, including soccer, gymnastics and softball.

The 11th Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, presented by Allstate, will feature a seven-team field with the regular season champion receiving a first-round bye. The remaining six teams will compete in quarterfinal games on Wednesday, April 22, with the semifinals and championship scheduled for Friday, April 24 and Sunday, April 26, respectively. The tournament will be hosted by the University of Michigan and played at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium.

The winner of this year's Big Ten Tournament will earn the conference's automatic berth into the 2026 NCAA Championship, with the bracket to be revealed live on ESPNU on Sunday, May 3 at 9 p.m. (ET).

Northwestern's Taylor Named to CSC Academic All-America At-Large Third Team

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Northwestern women’s lacrosse student-athlete Madison Taylor was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Women's At-Large Second Team on Tuesday.

The junior standout set the NCAA women's lacrosse record for most goals in a season (109) this spring. She also holds the school record for most points (158) in a season, a total which is good for No. 2 in the NCAA record books. This year, she led the nation in goals per game (4.95), points (158) and points per game (7.18).

The unanimous Big Ten Attacker of the Year and First-Team All-Big Ten honoree led the Wildcats to the regular season and tournament titles and a berth the NCAA National Championship game.

New Era Begins As House Settlement Approved

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 6, 2025 – Today marks a historic milestone for college athletics in the United States. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California has granted final approval to a settlement in the House v. NCAA (“House”) litigation. This landmark settlement – agreed to by plaintiffs representing nearly 400,000 current and former student-athletes and the NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Big Ten Conference, Big 12 Conference, Pac-12 Conference and Southeastern Conference (SEC) – will reshape the landscape of college sports, paving the way for a model that prioritizes fairness, stability, integrity and opportunity for student-athletes and institutions.

Overseeing this model will be the newly established College Sports Commission – an independent body that will be responsible for implementing the settlement terms governing revenue sharing, student-athlete Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deals and roster limits. The Commission will investigate any potential violations of these rules, make determinations regarding potential rules violations and penalties, provide notice and opportunity to be heard, participate in the arbitration process and ultimately administer penalties for violations of these rules. The Commission’s leadership team will be announced in the near future.

Under the new system, student-athletes will have more opportunities to financially benefit during their participation in intercollegiate athletics than ever before. Institutions are now able to share revenue directly with student-athletes, in addition to providing existing benefits such as athletic scholarships, access to world-class training facilities, academic counseling, medical care, post-eligibility medical coverage, mental health resources, nutritional guidance and life skills development.

Beginning July 1, 2025, each year, participating schools can distribute up to 22% of the average revenue among schools in the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC from media rights, ticket sales, and sponsorships – known as the revenue sharing cap. The cap is estimated at $20.5 million per school for the 2025-26 academic year, pending final confirmation. To ensure revenue sharing with student-athletes is appropriately managed and reported to the Court for compliance, athletics departments will use the new College Athlete Payment System (CAPS) platform developed by LBi Software.

Student-athletes will also be able to continue receiving compensation from third-parties other than their institutions for the use of their NIL, so long as their NIL deals are made with the purpose of using their NIL for a valid business purpose and do not exceed a reasonable range of compensation. On behalf of the College Sports Commission, Deloitte* has built and will maintain a new technology platform called NIL Go in which student-athletes will be required to report their NIL deals to confirm they are in compliance with the rules. Deals will be evaluated based on:

Payor association – The relationship between the payor and the student-athlete’s school.
Valid business purpose – Whether the payor is seeking the use of the student-athlete’s NIL for a valid business purpose, meaning to sell a good or service to the public for profit.
Range of compensation – Whether the compensation paid to the student-athlete is commensurate with compensation paid to similarly situated individuals.

Finally, for participating schools, NCAA scholarship limits have been removed and roster limits have been established for each sport, allowing for a significant increase in scholarship opportunities for student-athletes. Under this new model, schools will have the option to offer partial or full scholarships to every student-athlete on a team’s roster, as long as the total number of student-athletes stays within the sport’s specific roster limit. Efforts have also been made to ensure current and immediately incoming student-athletes are not adversely impacted by the establishing of roster limits. Removing scholarship limits allows schools to better support their student-athletes through new scholarships, particularly in non-revenue-generating sports.

“We look forward to implementing this historic settlement designed to bring stability, integrity and competitive balance to college athletics while increasing both scholarship and revenue opportunities for student-athletes in all sports,” said Tony Petitti, Commissioner of the Big Ten Conference.

“This is a significant moment for college athletics that will provide unparalleled opportunities for student-athletes. We look forward to implementing this new system which offers much-needed transparency and structure to create a more sustainable model for the long-term future of college athletics,” said Jim Phillips, Ph.D., Commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

“As we enter this new era of college athletics, it is crucial we do so with structure, transparency, and the success of student-athletes in mind — this settlement and new model will ensure that happens. I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to implement this new system that prioritizes fairness and opportunity for all student-athletes and institutions," said Brett Yormark, Commissioner of the Big 12 Conference.

This historic moment allows us to maintain what makes college sports special, the development of young individuals through sport, while also evolving to meet today's student-athletes where they are with new opportunities in a manner that provides long-term stability for collegiate athletics. “The approval of the House settlement agreement represents a significant milestone for the meaningful support of our student-athletes and a pivotal step toward establishing long-term sustainability for college sports, two of the Southeastern Conference’s top priorities. As the journey to modernize collegiate sports continues, we remain focused on identifying and implementing innovative opportunities for our student-athletes across all sports while maintaining the core values that make collegiate athletics uniquely meaningful,” said Greg Sankey, Commissioner of the Southeastern Conference.

Following are significant dates related to the implementation of the settlement:

June 6, 2025: Settlement approved; settlement-related NCAA rules are effective, as adopted by the NCAA Division 1 Board on April 21, 2025.
June 11 2025: NIL Go portal launches.
June 15, 2025: Opt-in deadline for non-defendant schools to fully commit to revenue sharing.
July 6, 2025: Opt-in schools must “designate” student-athletes permitted by the settlement to remain above roster limits.
July 1, 2025: First date for direct institutional revenue sharing payments to student-athletes.
Start of 2025-26 academic year: With the exception of the “designated” student-athletes, Fall sports must be at or below roster limits by their first day of competition.
December 1, 2025: With the exception of “designated” student-athletes, Winter and Spring sports must be at or below roster limits by their first day of competition or Dec. 1, whichever is earlier.

The NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament begins with first-round games Friday, May 9. Eight sites will host first- and second-round competition on Friday, May 9, and Sunday, May 11, and four quarterfinal games will be played Thursday, May 15. These preliminary-round games will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. ROSEMONT, Ill. – Ten Big Ten women’s lacrosse student-athletes were recognized by the nation’s lacrosse coaches on Thursday, as the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced its 2025 Division I All-America Teams.

Four Big Ten schools were represented among the team’s 48 honorees, with Northwestern earning four nods, one more than Michigan. Two Johns Hopkins student-athletes joined one from Maryland.

Three honorees were named to the IWLCA All-America First Team, including Johns Hopkins’ Reagan O’Brien and Northwestern’s Madison Taylor and Sammy White. Michigan’s Erin O’Grady and Jill Smith joined Ashley Mackin from Johns Hopkins and Jane Hansen from Northwestern on the Second Team, while Maryland’s Kori Edmondson, Michigan’s Grace Callahan, and Northwestern’s Sam Smith collected Third Team accolades.

This marks the third IWLCA All-America nod for Jill Smith, while O’Grady, Taylor, and White earn their second honor from the coaches.

All 10 of these student-athletes also earned All-America accolades from both Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine , with O’Brien, Taylor, and White earning First Team honors on all three teams.

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Twenty-one Big Ten women’s lacrosse student-athletes were recently honored by Inside Lacrosse, as the publication announced its 2025 Nike Lacrosse Media All-America honors.

Seven Big Ten programs were represented among the nominees, with Johns Hopkins and Northwestern collecting five honors each, one more than Maryland and Michigan.

Johns Hopkins’ Reagan O’Brien, Maryland’s Kori Edmondson, and Northwestern’s Madison Taylor and Sammy White claimed First Team accolades.

Seniors Ashley Mackin from Johns Hopkins and Erin O’Grady from Michigan were named to the Second Team, while fellow Wolverine Grace Callahan and Rutgers’ Lexi Coldiron joined Jane Hansen and Sam Smith from Northwestern on the Third Team.

The Nike Lacrosse Media All-Americans are selected by the ILWomen staff, with consultation of other media members.

This is the second of a projected three All-America Teams to be released this postseason. The USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Team was announced on March 9, with the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America honors set to be announced on Thursday.

26 From Big Ten Named USA Lacrosse All-Americans

ROSEMONT, Ill. – USA Lacrosse Magazine recognized 26 Big Ten women’s lacrosse student-athletes today, as the publication announced its 2025 Division I All-Americans. All-Americans were chosen by magazine staff with input from coaches and conferences across the country.

Among the 26 Big Ten honorees, eight schools are represented, with Johns Hopkins, Michigan, and Northwestern earning five honors each.

Johns Hopkins’ Reagan O’Brien, Maryland’s Kori Edmondson, and Northwestern’s Madison Taylor and Sammy White claimed First Team accolades.

O'Brien, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, is the national leader in caused turnovers (85) and caused turnovers per game (4.72). She broke both the NCAA single season (82) and Johns Hopkins career record (146) for caused turnovers in the Big Ten semifinals.

Recently named Big Ten Midfielder of the Year, Edmondson has recorded at least three goals in 13 of 19 games and leads the Terps with 65 points, 56 goals, and 34 ground balls, while her 68 draw controls and 17 caused turnovers are second on the team.

Taylor, who earned Big Ten Attacker of the Year honors and was recently named a 2025 Tewaaraton Award finalist, enters the NCAA Tournament leading the nation with 125 total points, 6.94 points per game and 4.94 goals per game, while her 89 total goals this season rank second.

White, who claimed a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team, helped the Wildcats post the Big Ten's top scoring defense (8.22 goals against per game), which ranks third nationally. She leads NU with 40 groundballs and her 34 caused turnovers are the second most on the team.

The USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American team is the first of a projected three All-American teams to be released this postseason. The All-American teams from the media voting compiled by Inside Lacrosse, as well as the Coaches' All-American teams from the IWLCA will be released at a later date this month.

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Four Big Ten women’s lacrosse teams will continue their seasons this week, as Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Michigan, and Northwestern have been selected to participate in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

Three of those teams, Northwestern, Maryland, and Johns Hopkins, were named among the tournament’s top eight seeds and will host both first and second round competition.

Since the Big Ten began sponsoring women’s lacrosse in 2015, the league has received at least three tournament bids every season.

First-round games will be played Friday (May 9) with second-round matchups taking place next Sunday (May 11). The quarterfinals are then slated for Thursday, May 15. Those first three rounds will all take place at campus sites around the country.

The quarterfinal winners will advance to the NCAA national semifinals and championship, which will take place May 23 and 25 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Games in the first two rounds will be broadcast on ESPN+, with quarterfinal and semifinal rounds broadcast on ESPNU. The National Championship game will be broadcast live on ESPN at 12 noon ET.

Northwestern (16-2, 8-0 Big Ten) was selected as the number three overall seed and is one of three teams to earn a bye into the second round. On Sunday, the Wildcats will make their 26^th NCAA Tournament appearance when they host the winner of a first-round game between Michigan and Akron at 3 p.m. ET.

Maryland (14-5, 7-1), the tournament’s number six seed, will make its 40th NCAA Tournament appearance when it plays host to MAAC champion Fairfield on Friday at 12 noon ET. Awaiting Friday’s winner will be Penn or Army, who appeared in the Ivy League and Patriot League Tournament semifinal rounds.

Johns Hopkins (12-6, 5-3) earned the number eight overall seed and will play host to ASUN champion Liberty. Making their 13^th tournament appearance, the Blue Jays will face the tournament newcomers at 2 p.m. ET on Friday. The winner of this first round matchup will face either Atlantic 10 champion UMass or Ivy League runner-up Princeton on Sunday.

Michigan (12-6, 5-3) will make its fourth consecutive tournament appearance and fifth all-time when the Wolverines face MAC champion Akron at 3 p.m. at Northwestern. Friday’s winner will face overall No. 3 seed Northwestern on Sunday.

Big Ten Announces 2025 Women’s Lacrosse Individual Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference announced its 2025 women’s lacrosse individual awards on Tuesday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Big Ten Tournament finalists Maryland and Northwestern earned two awards each, as the Terps’ Kori Edmondson and Kayla Gilmore were named Midfielder and Freshman of the Year, respectively, while Madison Taylor and Kelly Amonte Hiller claimed Attacker and Coach of the Year honors.

Johns Hopkins’ Reagan O’Brien was named Defender of the Year, while Michigan’s Erin O’Grady earned her second consecutive Goaltender of the Year award.

Taylor earned the third consecutive Attacker of the Year honor for Northwestern and the program’s fifth in the last six seasons. Taylor leads the nation with 125 points, while her 89 goals are good for second in the country. The junior tallied 16 hat tricks in 18 games and posted at least five points on 16 occasions, including an 11-point outing against Oregon.

Edmondson is the fifth Maryland student-athlete named Midfielder of the Year and earns the program’s sixth award in 10 years. The junior from Severna, Md. has recorded at least three goals in 13 of 19 games and leads the Terps with 65 points, 56 goals, and 34 ground balls, while her 68 draw controls and 17 caused turnovers are second on the team.

O’Brien is the first Blue Jay to garner Defender of the Year accolades. The junior from Charlestown, Mass. set an NCAA single season record with 85 caused turnovers, while leading the Big Ten with 52 ground balls. O’Brien caused at least three turnovers in 14 of 18 games, setting a new program record with 10 caused turnovers in the Blue Jays Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal win over Penn State.

O’Grady becomes the third repeat winner of the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year award, joining Maryland’s Megan Taylor (2016-19) and Emily Sterling (2022-23). The senior’s .540 save percentage ranks second in the country, while her 9.00 goals against average is good for seventh. O’Grady notched double-digit saves in 11 of 15 games, anchoring the nation’s number two-ranked scoring defense.

Gilmore is the third Maryland student-athlete to earn Freshman of the Year honors and its first since Grace Griffin earned the award in 2018. The Mastic, N.Y. native has made an immediate impact for Maryland, starting all 18 of her appearances this season, while posting 23 points on 14 goals and nine assists. The freshman has also collected a team-high 73 draw controls, good for eighth in the Big Ten.

This is the fifth time Amonte Hiller has been named Coach of the Year, also claiming the honor in 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024. Northwestern won both the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles for the third consecutive season and the fourth time in the last five years. The Wildcats have been ranked in the top three on every IWLCA Coaches Poll this season and will enter the 2025 NCAA Tournament with a 16-2 record and an eight-game win streak.

Northwestern Claims 2025 Big Ten Women's Lacrosse Tournament Title

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Northwestern Wildcats erased a 6-2 deficit in the game’s final 20:04 before Aditi Foster’s goal with 15 seconds to play secured their fifth Big Ten Tournament Championship, defeating number two seeded Maryland 8-7 at the Maryland Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md.

The win marks Northwestern’s third consecutive conference tournament crown and its fifth since 2019. As Big Ten Tournament champions, the Wildcats also earn the Big Ten’s automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament.

Northwestern’s sixth-year defender Jane Hansen was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after anchoring a defensive effort that limited Maryland to just one goal over the game’s final 22:30 and its second lowest scoring output of the season.

The Terps grabbed an early lead, as Kori Edmondson scored the first of her four goals in the game’s opening minutes. Northwestern’s Madison Taylor leveled the score before Maryland turned up its defense.

The Terps held the Big Ten’s highest scoring team to just one goal over the next 34-plus minutes on the strength of goaltender JJ Suriano’s Big Ten Tournament record tying 18 saves. Maryland’s offense took advantage, as four players marked the scoring column, helping the Terps build a 5-2 lead at the half and 6-2 after an Edmondson goal at the 7:30 mark of the third quarter.

Foster’s first goal of the afternoon came with just over five minutes left in the third, snapping Northwestern’s scoring drought and spurring the Wildcats to three unanswered goals to pull within 6-5 with 15 minutes to play.

The score remained 6-5 until Northwestern’s Emerson Bohlig unassisted goal evened the score at 6-6 with just under three minutes to play. Just 16 seconds later, Taylor gave Northwestern its first lead of the game. Maryland tied the score at 7-7 on Edmondson’s free position goal with 64 ticks left on the clock.

Northwestern won the ensuing draw and, with just 15 seconds left on the clock, Bohlig found Foster cutting to the net for the game-winning goal. The Terps had a chance to even the scoring in the game’s final seconds, but could not convert a free position opportunity.

Niki Miles joined Foster and Taylor with two goals each for the Wildcats, while Hansen tallied three caused turnovers. Sam Smith collected seven draw controls with goaltender Delaney Sweitzer notched seven saves.

Edmondson led the Maryland attack with four goals on the day, with Kayla Gilmore, Lauren Lapointe, and Shelby Sullivan also marking the scoring column.

The 10th Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, Presented by DirecTV, will feature a seven-team field with the regular season champion receiving a first-round bye. The remaining six teams will compete in quarterfinal games on Wednesday, April 23, with the semifinals and championship scheduled for Friday, April 25 and Sunday, April 27, respectively. The tournament will be hosed by the University of Maryland and played at the Maryland Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex.

The winner of this year's Big Ten Tournament will earn the conference's automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Championship, with the bracket to be revealed live on ESPNU on Sunday, May 4 at 9 p.m. (ET).

Fans interested in attending the tournament can purchase tickets here . Fans can purchase single session tickets to attend all games on one day or all session tickets which allow access to all three days of competition. Re-entry to the complex is only permitted between games.

Fans wishing to purchase merchandise can visit the Women’s Lacrosse Tournament Merchandise Link. Merchandise will be sold online only. There will be no onsite merchandise sales.

For those attending the semifinal games on Friday, April 23, free parking will be available in Lot 11b beginning at 2 p.m. Free parking will be available in Lot XX1 beginning at 4 p.m. Paid parking will be available in the XFINITY Visitor Lot (XVL) all day. If those lots are full, DOTS staff will redirect to Regents Drive Garage. On Championship Sunday, April 27, free parking will be available in Lot 11b and Lot XX1, while paid parking will be available in the XFINITY Visitor Lot.

Big Ten Announces 2025 Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced its 2025 women’s lacrosse all-conference teams on Tuesday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches. That same group will also be selecting the Big Ten’s individual award recipients, with that announcement to come next week.

Big Ten regular season champion Northwestern leads the conference with eight total selections, including four with First Team accolades, while Michigan has seven honorees, one more than Johns Hopkins.

Among the 32 honorees, three were unanimous choices by the coaches, Maryland midfielder Kori Edmondson and Northwestern attacker Madison Taylor and defender Sammy White.

Joining the trio on the First Team are a quartet from Johns Hopkins, attackers Ava Angello and Ashley Mackin, midfielder Lacey Downey, and defender Reagan O’Brien. Four players from Michigan were also named to the First Team, including defender Grace Callahan, midfielder Ava Class, goaltender Erin O’Grady, and attacker Jill Smith.

Northwestern defender Jane Hansen and midfielder Sam Smith joined Taylor and White on the First Team, as did Penn State attacker Erika Ho, defender Ellie Hollin, and midfielder Lauren Saltz.

The Big Ten also debuted an All-Freshman Team this year. The list recognized the top first year players in the conference and includes three players who were also named to the All-Big Ten Second Team, Laurel Gonzalez from Johns Hopkins, Kayla Gilmore from Maryland, and Emma Burke from Michigan.

The conference also recognized nine Sportsmanship Award recipients in the sport of women’s lacrosse on Tuesday, one from each conference school. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These student-athletes must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Big Ten Unveils 2025 Women's Lacrosse Tournament Bracket

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced the full bracket for the 2025 Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, Presented by DirecTV, set to take place April 23-27 at the Maryland Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex on the University of Maryland campus in College Park, Md.

Northwestern earned the tournament’s No. 1 seed after clinching its third straight Big Ten title and its fifth in the last six seasons. Along with the top seed, the Wildcats have also earned a first-round bye and will open tournament play on Friday, April 25 with a semifinal contest.

Tournament host, Maryland, claimed the No. 2 seed, while Johns Hopkins, Michigan, and Penn State tied for third. By virtue of a tiebreaker, the Wolverines claimed the No. 3 seed, followed by the Nittany Lions, and the Blue Jays. USC will make its Big Ten Tournament debut at the No. 6 seed, with Rutgers securing the No. 7 seed.

The tournament will open on Wednesday, April 23 with three quarterfinal games, with the winners advancing to the semifinal round. No. 4 Penn State and No. 5 John Hopkins will open the tripleheader at 12 p.m. ET, followed by No. 2 Maryland and No. 7 Rutgers at 3 p.m. ET, and No. 3 Michigan and No. 6 USC at 6 p.m. ET.

Wednesday’s quarterfinal winners and Northwestern will advance to Friday’s semifinal round. Semifinal contests are slated to begin at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. ET on April 25, with the championship scheduled for 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 27. All three contests will be broadcast live on BTN and the FOX Sports app.

The winner of this year’s Big Ten Tournament will earn the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Championship, with that bracket announced on Sunday, May 4 at 9 p.m. ET, live on ESPNU.

Tewaaraton Foundation Names 6 from Big Ten To List of 25 Nominees

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the 2025 women’s Nominees for the Tewaaraton Award presented by Stifel, a list that includes six Big Ten student-athletes.

Johns Hopkins’ Ashley Mackin, Maryland’s Kori Edmondson, Michigan’s Erin O’Grady and Jill Smith, and Northwestern’s Sammy Smith and Madison Taylor were listed among the nominees for the Tewaaraton Award, the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top college lacrosse player in the United States

The selection committees are composed of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.

Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be selected from these groups, to be announced May 8 at the conclusion of the regular season. They will be honored May 29 at the 25th Tewaaraton Award Ceremony presented by Stifel at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, in Washington D.C.

Northwestern Clinches Share of Big Ten Women's Lacrosse Title

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Northwestern secured at least a share of the 2025 Big Ten women's lacrosse championship with Thursday's 15-6 win over No. 13 Michigan. The victory improved the No. 3-ranked Wildcats to 7-0 in conference play with one game remaining. This marks Northwestern's third straight title and its fifth in the last six seasons.

The Wolverines scored the game’s first three goals before the Wildcats netted seven unanswered goals to build a 7-4 lead at the half. Northwestern put the game away in the third, outscoring the visitors 6-0 and extending its lead to 15-4 early in the final period.

Madison Taylor led Northwestern with eight points on six goals and two assists, while Niki Miles and Riley Campbell combined for seven goals. Sam Smith collected 14 draw controls, with Sammy White pairing four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Goaltender Delaney Sweitzer collected seven saves in the win.

Michigan’s Kaylee Dyer led the Wolverines with two goals and an assist, while goaltender Erin O’Grady posted 12 saves.

Northwestern can clinch the 2025 title outright on Saturday with a win at Ohio State. The opening draw is slated for 1 p.m. ET in Columbus, Ohio.

The 2025 Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament will take place April 23-27 at the Maryland Field Hockey and Women’s Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md.

Three first round games will take place on April 23 with the winners and the tournament’s top seed advancing to the semifinals on April 25. The semifinal winners will meet in the championship game on April 27, with the winner claiming the Big Ten's automatic qualification to the NCAA Tournament.

The first round games will be broadcast on B1G+, while the semifinals and championship will air on Big Ten Network and the FOX Sports App.
