The We Give Blood drive turns school pride into life-saving purpose. Powered by Abbott and the Big Ten, this is the largest blood donation competition of our time - tackling the national blood shortage.
About the Competition
Students, fans, and alumni from across the country backed their favorite Big Ten schools by donating blood. In 2025, the program collectively inspired over 80,000 blood donors, saving nearly 250,000 lives.
Congratulations to the 2025 We Give Blood winner, the University of Wisconsin, who was awarded $1 million from Abbott to advance student or community health.
Why this matters
The U.S. blood supply is in crisis. Donations from young people have dropped dramatically, and most hospitals have less than two days' worth of blood on hand.
