Chris Althoff

Director, Creative Strategy

Chris Althoff originally joined the Big Ten Conference in 2015 as assistant director, branding and was promoted to associate director, branding in 2018 and his current role as director, creative strategy in 2022. Althoff is responsible for managing the Big Ten identity guidelines and the application of all uses of the Big Ten logo and marks.

In his current role, Althoff designs graphic materials for marketing and promotion efforts surrounding Big Ten events and championships, while also facilitating in-venue production for the Big Ten Football Championship Game, the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament and Super Saturday. Some of his additional duties include serving as the conference’s liaison for Big Ten equipment directors, helping manage the conference’s uniform logo program and overseeing the Big Ten licensing program.

Althoff joined the Big Ten after working as assistant director of events at the University of Miami (Florida) from 2013-15. He was a graduate assistant in the University of Illinois’ athletics department from 2011-13 and was a student manager for the Fighting Illini men’s basketball program from 2006-10. Althoff graduated with his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Illinois in 2010 and received his master’s degree in sports management from Illinois in 2013.
