A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Curry was a two-time University of Minnesota Men’s Basketball team captain, playing 104 games for the Gophers, including 25 starts during the 2021-22 season, finishing his career with 555 points and 462 rebounds, receiving Minnesota’s Sportsmanship Award Minnesota’s Athlete Achievement award in his last season.

Curry graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in Communications in 2020 and a master's degree in Youth Development and Leadership May of 2022.

Curry's interest in joining the Big Ten Conference started from his passion of wanting to become successful in life outside of the basketball court. He wants to be viewed as someone who did not let adversity waver his determination of success and wants to be a sense of hope for all student-athletes in the Big Ten Conference that there are careers to begin outside of your sport and that there is more to life than the sport you play.
