Nebraska, Michigan State, Ohio State and Minnesota Net First Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards of 2024

&nbsp;ROSEMONT, Ill. – UCLA has been chosen as the favorite to win the 2024 Big Ten Conference Women’s Soccer championship, based on the annual preseason poll released on Tuesday. The poll results were determined by a vote from the conference’s 18 head coaches.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ranked No. 11 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25 Poll, the Bruins were projected to finish first as part of their inaugural season in the Big Ten. In 2023, the Bruins won their 14th Pac-12 Conference title with a 10-0-1 conference record and a 16-2-1 record overall. UCLA returns seven starters, including All-American and two-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year Lilly Reale. &nbsp;&nbsp;Penn State was selected to finish second after ending the 2023 season with a 16-3-4 overall record, which included the program’s first National Quarterfinal appearance since 2018. The Nittany Lions extended their NCAA Tournament appearance streak to 29 consecutive bids, the second-longest active streak in the nation. Penn State was selected fourth in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25. &nbsp;&nbsp;Michigan State and Nebraska, who shared the Big Ten Championship in 2023, were projected to finish third and fourth, respectively. In the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25, Nebraska was selected sixth and Michigan State 13th&nbsp;Also among the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25 were Wisconsin (19th), USC (23rd), Iowa (25th). &nbsp;&nbsp;The conference also unveiled the 2024 Big Ten Players to watch List on Tuesday, as selected by the league’s coaches. Included in the list are 20 student-athletes who earned all-conference recognition in 2023. Among last season’s honorees are 2023 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year Justina Gaynor from Michigan State, Goalkeeper of the Year Jamie Gerstenberg from Indiana and Freshman of the Year Bella Najera from Michigan State. UCLA Selected as 2024 Big Ten Women’s Soccer Favorite

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference today officially admitted the University of Oregon, UCLA, USC and the University of Washington, bringing the total number of member institutions to 18. Competition will begin this season for all conference sports.“We are excited today to officially welcome the University of Oregon, UCLA, USC and the University of Washington to the Big Ten Conference,” said Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti. “All four institutions feature a combination of world class academics and athletics that are a great fit for our conference, and we look forward to building long-lasting relationships with the administrators, coaches, student-athletes, alumni and fans.”On June 30, 2022, the Big Ten’s Council of Presidents/Chancellors (COP/C) voted unanimously to admit the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC). A little more than a year later, on August 4, 2023, the COP/C voted unanimously once more to admit the University of Oregon and the University of Washington, with all four schools joining the Conference on August 2, 2024.Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington are all members of the Association of American Universities, an organization of American research institutions devoted to maintaining a strong system of academic research and education. Today, they also become members of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, where Big Ten institutions lead the nation with more than 75,000 instructional staff, 810,000 students, $17.4 billion in annual research expenditures, and 145 million library volumes, representing 25 percent of all print titles in North America. University of Oregon, UCLA, USC and University of Washington Officially Join Big Ten Conference

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its television schedule for the 2024 women’s soccer season. The Big Ten Network (BTN) will cover 19 games involving all 18 participating schools.&nbsp; &nbsp; Coverage information for the Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament semifinals and championship game will be announced at a later date. &nbsp; &nbsp; The first broadcast is scheduled for Thursday, August 15, when Penn State plays host to Texas Tech. All games will be carried on Thursday’s or Sunday’s, with one match scheduled for Wednesday, August 28 between UCLA and BYU.
