Northwestern and Rutgers Collect Weekly Field Hockey Awards

ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its weekly field hockey awards for games played Sept. 26-28.

Offensive Player of the Week
Ashley Sessa, Northwestern
Jr. – F – Schwenksville, Pa. – Episcopal Academy

• Played a role in four goals as top-ranked Northwestern defeated Indiana, 5-0, on Sept. 26
• Matched a career high with six points, contributing two goals and two assists in the win
• Scored goals 53 seconds apart in the second quarter to help the Wildcats extend their regular season win streak to 43 games
• The 2024 All-American secures her fourth career Big Ten offensive award
• Marks second-straight week that Northwestern has captured offensive player honors
  

Defensive Player of the Week
Puck Winter, Rutgers
Gr. – B – Deventer, Netherlands – Centre for Sports and Education

• Playing at back and midfield, spearheaded a Rutgers defense that held opponents to one goal in 127 minutes of action
• Made two defensive saves in the closing minutes of regulation as Rutgers prevailed, 2-1, over Ohio State in overtime on Sept. 26
• Recorded five points (two goals, assist) in Rutgers’ 8-0 win over Columbia on Sept. 28
• Leads the Big Ten with four defensive saves
• The 2024 All-Big Ten selection earns her fourth career defensive player award and her second of the season
  

Freshman of the Week
Martha Goodridge, Rutgers
Fr. – M – Marlow, England – Sir William Borlase

• Compiled two goals and an assist for No. 19 Rutgers in a pair of home wins
• Scored the overtime game-winner in Rutgers’ 2-1 victory over Ohio State, the eighth-straight win in the series for the Scarlet Knights
• Contributed three points (goal, assist) in an 8-0 decision versus Columbia
• The first-year midfielder has scored in three of her last four contests
• Last Rutgers player named Freshman of the Week: Emily Nicholls (Sept. 15, 2025)
