Michigan and Ohio State Honored with Weekly Tennis Awards
Buckeyes’ Anthrop and Wolverines’ Dahlin Earn NCAA berths
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its men’s tennis weekly awards for matches played Nov. 6-9.
Player of the Week
Jack Anthrop, Ohio State
Sr. — Orlando, Fla.
- Qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship for the second time in his career with three wins at the ITA Central Sectional Championships
- Won matches against players from Baylor, Texas, and Texas A&M to reach the semifinals (where play was halted)
- Dropped just two games in knocking off 34th-ranked Alexander Frusina of Texas A&M, 6-0, 6-2 in the quarterfinals to earn the NCAA berth
- Improved his fall singles record to 12-3 (.800)
- Advanced to the sectional doubles quarterfinals with partner Preston Stearns
- Receives his first Big Ten Player of the Week certificate
Freshman of the Week
Max Dahlin, Michigan
R-Fr. — Karlstad, Sweden
- Earned a berth to the NCAA Doubles Championships through qualifying at the ITA Central Sectional Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich.
- Playing on his home courts, joined first-time partner Bjorn Swenson to post a 3-0 record
- Compiled wins against Texas, Texas A&M, and the 65th-ranked Notre Dame duo of Peter Nad and Luis Llorens Saracho to reach the final (which was not played)
- Recorded a singles victory to compile a 4-0 overall record at the sectional
- Qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship a month ago
- Collects his second Big Ten Freshman of the Week award, having been honored on Oct. 22, 2025
