Ohio State Wins Women's Swimming and Diving Championships

Iowa City, Iowa – Ohio State claimed the 2020 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship Saturday at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center at the University of Iowa. The title marks the Buckeyes’ sixth in program history and the first since winning five consecutive crowns from 1982-86.
Ohio State totaled 1503.5 points through the four-day competition, followed by Michigan (1306.50), Indiana (964), Northwestern (907.5) and Wisconsin (734).
The Buckeyes’ claimed gold in the 500-yard freestyle (Kathrin Demler – 4:37.04), 1-meter diving (Mackenzie Crawford – 320.65 points), 200-yard freestyle relay (Taylor Petrak, Freya Rayner, Amy Fulmer, Lucija Jurkovic Perisa – 1:27.57), and 1650-yard freestyle (Molly Kowal, 15:43.17). Ohio State director of swimming and diving Bill Dorenkott earned his fourth Big Ten Championship, having claimed three prior titles as the head coach at Penn State.
Michigan’s Maggie MacNeil was named Swimmer of the Championships, Purdue’s Emily Bretscher was tabbed as Diver of the Championships and Michigan’s Kaitlynn Sims claimed Freshman of the Year honors.
