UCLA, USC, Washington Claim Baseball Weekly Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its baseball weekly awards for games played March 10-15, 2026.

Player of the Week
Roch Cholowsky, UCLA
Jr. – SS – Chandler, Ariz. – Hamilton HS

• Led top-ranked UCLA to a 4-0 week, including a three-game sweep of Michigan at Jackie Robinson Stadium
• Batted .615 with a pair of three-hit performances; slugged two home runs and drove in nine runs
• Reached base 12 times, compiling a 667 on-base percentage and scoring five runs
• The 2025 Big Ten Player of the Year earns his first conference weekly award
• Last Bruin Named Big Ten Player of the Week: Will Gasparino (February 23, 2026)

Pitcher of the Week
Grant Govel, USC
So. – S-RHP – Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. – Palos Verdes HS

• Pitching in 35-degree weather, Govel threw seven scoreless innings to help No. 12-ranked USC to its 19th-straight win on Saturday in 2-0 decision at Northwestern
• His pitching line included six strikeouts with no walks and two hits allowed; let only one runner past first base
• On the season Govel owns a 0.27 ERA, having given up one run in 33 innings pitched
• Earns his second Big Ten Pitcher of the Week Award of the season

Freshman of the Week
Daniel Porras, Washington
Fr. – OF/1B – Guatemala City, Guatemala – Gig Harbor HS

• Slugged .706 with six hits and 12 total bases in 17 at-bats
• Had a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th inning in Washington’s 5-4 win over Ohio State on Saturday
• Extended his hitting streak to six games while recording a home run and four RBI
• Made 19 putouts covering right field and first base
• Last Husky tabbed Freshman of the Week: Jackson Hotchkiss (April 7, 2025)
