Oregon, Ohio State, USC Secure Baseball Weekly Awards

Hellman (ORE), Bemis (OSU), Edwards (USC) and Lauridsen (USC) honored

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its baseball weekly awards for games played March 17-22, 2026.

Co-Player of the Week
Dominic Hellman, Oregon
Sr. – DH – Mill Creek, Wash. – Henry M. Jackson HS

  • Led Big Ten players in home runs (4), slugging percentage (1.417) and total bases (17)
  • Homered in back-to-back at-bats on Friday to lift No. 13-ranked Oregon to a 20-6 win over Northwestern in the series opener
  • Helped the Ducks erase an eight-run deficit and force extra innings with back-to-back homers as part of a six-RBI performance on Sunday
  • Finished the week with a 1.950 On-base Plus Slugging (OPS)
  • Receives his second career Big Ten Player of the Week Award, having been honored on March 3, 2025


Co-Player of the Week
Alex Bemis, Ohio State
Jr. – OF – Monroe, Ohio – Gannon (NCAA)

  • Paced Big Ten hitters in runs scored (9), RBI (11) and total bases (17) last week
  • Hit a grand slam and finished with six RBI in Ohio State’s 14-4 win over Butler on Sunday
  • Slashed .467/.600/1.133 in 15 at-bats as Ohio State went 4-0 on the week, defeating Xavier and sweeping three games from Butler
  • Compiled seven hits and extended his hitting streak to 12 games
  • Last Buckeye to win Big Ten Player of the Week honors: Hunter Rosson (April 29, 2024)


Pitcher of the Week
Mason Edwards, USC
Jr. – S-LHP – Los Angeles, Calif. – Palisades Charter HS

  • Threw six scoreless innings, fanning a career-high 12 batters, to lead No. 10-ranked USC to a 5-0 win over Washington on Friday
  • Gave up one hit and didn’t allow a runner past first base for the first five innings; finished his outing with a strikeout, stranding runners on second and third
  • Held the Huskies to a 0.53 batting average while recording a 0.67 WHIP
  • Owns the NCAA’s lowest ERA at 0.25, having allowed just one run in 36 innings
  • The left-hander collects his third Big Ten Pitcher of the Week award this season


Freshman of the Week
Gavin Lauridsen, USC
Fr. – R-RHP – Tustin, Calif. – Foothill HS

  • Made two relief appearances on the week, tossing 4.2 scoreless innings and holding opponents to a 0.86 batting average
  • Recorded a save in USC’s 5-0 win in the series opener against Washington
  • Surrendered one hit in three innings of work versus the Huskies, striking out four batters
  • Has made seven scoreless relief appearances on the year
  • Is the first reliever this season to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors
