Nebraska, Oregon, Michigan Presented with Baseball Awards

Grego (NEB), Cooney (ORE), Lally Jr. (MICH) claim weekly honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its baseball weekly awards for games played April 13-19, 2026.

Co-Player of the Week | Freshman of the Week
Drew Grego, Nebraska
Fr. – OF – Papillion, Neb. – Bellevue West HS

  • Helped No. 22-ranked Nebraska to a three-game sweep of No. 8 USC during a 4-0 week
  • Facing a Trojan pitching staff that ranked second in the Big Ten for ERA and third in WHIP, Grego batted .444 with three home runs and 12 RBI
  • Recorded five extra-base hits and 19 total bases while scoring six runs
  • Homered and drove in three RBI in Nebraska’s 5-4 win over in-state rival Creighton
  • Last Husker to be named Player of the Week: Rhett Stokes (March 11, 2024) / Freshman of the Week: Devin Nunez (March 3, 2025)

Co-Player of the Week
Ryan Cooney, Oregon
Jr. – 2B – Portland, Ore. – Jesuit HS

  • Led the Big Ten in three statistical categories last week: batting average (.692), on-base percentage (.750) and slugging percentage (1.308)
  • Finished with a 2.058 OPS and six runs scored as No. 17 Oregon won a conference series at Illinois
  • Reached base in 12 of 16 plate appearances and did not strike out in 13 at-bats; recorded first five-hit game for an Oregon player since April 1, 2023
  • Accepts his third career Big Ten Player of the Week award and first of the season
  • Last Duck to be chosen Player of the Week: Dominic Hellman (March 23, 2026)

Pitcher of the Week
David Lally Jr., Michigan
Sr. – S-RHP – Grand Blanc, Mich. – Notre Dame (NCAA)

  • Tossed a complete game one-hitter in Michigan’s 2-1 win over Northwestern Sunday
  • Tied a career high with six strikeouts and allowed one unearned run over nine innings
  • Did not allow a hit until two outs in the fifth inning and responded by retiring 13-straight batters to end the game
  • Flashed the leather defensively with two putouts, fielding a grounder and snagging a liner to the mound
  • Is the second Wolverine in three weeks to receive Pitcher of the Week honors
