USC, Nebraska, Illinois Grab Weekly Baseball Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its baseball weekly awards for games played May 4-10, 2026.

Player of the Week
Jack Basseer, USC
Sr. – OF – Pleasanton, Calif. – TCU (NCAA)

• Batted .615 (8-for-13) and produced a Big Ten-best 1.538 slugging percentage
• Compiled a 2.275 OPS and homered in all three games of the Nevada series
• Reached based at a .737 clip, advancing on five walks and a hit-by-pitch while striking out just twice in 19 plate appearances
• Helped No. 16-ranked USC to a 4-0 week against nonconference opponents
• Becomes first Trojan this season to earn Big Ten Player of the Week accolades

Pitcher of the Week
Carson Jasa, Nebraska
R-So. – S-RHP – Thornton, Colo. – Faith Christian Academy

• Helped No. 21 Nebraska to a three-game sweep of Iowa
• Threw seven scoreless innings in Nebraska’s 10-0 win in the series opener; improved his season record to 9-2
• Gave up two hits and held the Hawkeyes to a .087 batting average
• Stuck out nine batters and allowed just two base runners to reach third base; finished with a 0.57 WHIP
• Last Husker to be named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week: Jackson Brockett (May 6, 2024)

Freshman of the Week
Aidan Flinn, Illinois
Fr. – S-LHP – Mokena, Ill. – Marist HS

• Made the most of his 11th start of the season in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Northwestern
• Surrendered one hit over five scoreless innings and has now allowed just two hits over his last 12 innings of work
• Fanned five batters and limited the Wildcats to two base runners and a .067 opponent average
• Strung together his third-straight start with one run or fewer allowed
• Is the second Illinois player to receive Freshman of the Week recognition, joining AJ Putty (Feb. 23, 2026)
