Baseball Tournament Update: Day 3

OMAHA, Neb. — Indiana and Penn State advanced to the semifinals, Illinois lived to fight another day and Iowa was eliminated as the Big Ten Baseball Tournament Presented by IFS.ai completed its third day at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.

Thursday's action started with an elimination game and saw Illinois edge Iowa, 4-2, in extra innings.

CF Connor Quagliano singled to left to drive in two runs in the top 10th. Iowa loaded the bases in the bottom 10th with no outs before Joseph Glassey pitched out of the jam.

The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak for Illinois in Big Ten postseason play.

In the second game of the day, Indiana remained unbeaten in tournament action behind a 14-7 win over Ohio State.

OSU committed four errors and Indiana received hits from all nine starters in a contest that lasted 3 hours, 40 minutes. Five Hoosiers recorded multiple RBIs. Indiana scored five runs in the second inning and added four more in the eighth.

In Thursday's nightcap, Penn State rallied late to post a 9-5 win over Michigan in a contest that featured five lead changes.

Mitch Voit blasted a three-run homer in the eighth to give Michigan a 5-3 lead before PSU answered in the bottom of the inning on Bryce Molinaro's grand slam. The Nittany Lions are the first eight seed to go 2-0 since Iowa in 2016.
