Indiana and Oregon Gather Weekly Baseball Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Big Ten Conference has announced its baseball weekly awards for games played May 13-17.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Cooney, Oregon
So. — 2B — Portland, Ore. — Jesuit HS

• Helped No. 3 Oregon to a three-game road sweep of Iowa to earn a share of the Big Ten Championship
• Connected on a two-run, go-ahead double in the seventh inning of Friday’s 9-6 win
• In the series finale, belted a leadoff homer in a four-run, sixth inning that broke the game open
• Compiled a .556 batting average, 1.444 slugging percentage and a 2.137 OPS
• Wins the Player of the Week Award for the second time in three weeks
  
  

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Grayson Grinsell, Oregon
Jr. — S-LHP — Reno, Nev. — Reno HS

• Kept Oregon’s title hopes alive in a 10-0 win over Iowa in Thursday’s series opener
• Threw seven shutout innings in a game shortened by the 10-run rule
• Allowed two hits, fanned eight batters and issued one walk
• Held the Hawkeyes to a .087 batting average while recording a 0.43 WHIP
• Earns his second Pitcher of the Week certificate, having previously been honored on April 21, 2025

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Hogan Denny, Indiana
Fr. — DH — Mooresville, Ind. — Mooresville HS

• Batted .455 (5-for-11) and recorded a .538 on-base percentage as Indiana won its first road series of the season at Michigan
• Serving as the designated hitter, collected hits in all three games and had a pair of multiple-hit games
• Opened the series with a two-RBI performance in Thursday’s 8-7 win
• Receives his second Freshman of the Week accolade of the year
