Baseball Tournament Update: Day 4

OMAHA, Neb. — The fourth day of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament Presented by IFS.ai saw the semifinal pairings finalized while two more teams were sent home.

In the first elimination game of the day, No. 2 seed Nebraska handed No. 7 seed Ohio State a 12-5 loss.

Gabe Swansen connected on a three-run homer in the bottom first as part of a 4-for-5, 6-RBI day for the Cornhusker left fielder. On the mound, Mason McConnaughey fanned 11 over six innings.

Nebraska (36-20) will meet Indiana (32-22) on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT in a Big Ten semifinal.

In the evening game, No. 4 Michigan held off No. 1 seed Illinois, 4-2, in an elimination contest.

Michigan's Will Rogers flirted with a no-hitter through seven innings before Coltin Quagliano doubled to lead off the eighth. Illinois (34-19) mounted a rally in the bottom ninth, scoring twice before Wolverine reliever Dylan Vigue closed out the game.

Michigan (32-27) will meet Penn State (28-23) tomorrow in a semifinal game starting at 1 p.m. CT.
