Illinois, Indiana and Nebraska suffered losses on Sunday on the third day of NCAA Baseball Regionals. The setbacks occurred in elimination games, ending the season for all three teams.
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Indiana State produced a seven-run, third inning en route to a 13-2 win over Illinois at Kentucky Proud Park. It was the 14th-ranked Sycamores' first win against the Fighting Illini in three games this season.
Ryan Moerman hit his 19th home run of the season for Illinois, tying the third-highest mark for a season. The Illini, regular season Big Ten champions, finished their campaign with a 35-21 record.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Indiana surrendered 15 runs over the first four innings to fall, 15-3, to 22nd-ranked Southern Mississippi at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Devin Taylor and Jasen Oliver homered for the Hoosiers (33-26-1), the only Big Ten team to have played in the last two NCAA Tournaments.
STILLWATER, Okla. — Big innings proved costly to Nebraska as well in a 17-11 setback to Florida at O'Brate Stadium.
Florida scored four-or-more runs in three separate frames to earn their second win against the Cornhuskers (40-22) on the weekend.
Gabe Swansen crushed a 410-foot home run to finish his postseason with a .500 average, seven home runs and 16 RBI for the Big Ten Tournament champions.
Today's action closed the 128th season of Big Ten baseball competition.
