Oregon Owns Glass, Charity Stripe to Advance

Ducks defeat Purdue to move on to the second round of the 2026 Allstate Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament

In round one of the 2026 Allstate Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament , No. 11 seed Oregon powered past No. 14 Purdue, 82-64, controlling the game with dominant rebounding and efficient scoring. The Ducks set the tone early, outscoring Purdue 12-2 in the paint during the first quarter and building a 23-point halftime lead.

Purdue fought back in the third quarter, with Tara Daye, Hila Karsh, and Lana McCarthy all reaching double figures, but Oregon’s 23 second-chance points and 27-6 advantage at the free-throw line kept the Boilers at bay. Despite a late push, Purdue couldn’t overcome Oregon’s 42-27 rebounding edge. The Ducks maintained their lead throughout the second half, with Mia Jacobs contributing 14 points and nine rebounds to seal the win. Ehis Etute led the charge with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Katie Fiso added 20 points.

Fourth quarter: Finishing the job

  • Three Boilers hit double-digit points (Tara Daye, Hila Karsh, Lana McCarthy), but Oregon still leads 72-56.
  • Two Purdue players foul out: Kendall Puryear and Kiki Smith.
  • Notable: Oregon controls the glass and is out-rebounding Purdue 42-27 with 23 second-chance points compared to Purdue's nine.
  • Oregon wins, 82-64.
  • Key contributors (ORE): Katie Fiso (20 points), Ehis Etute (16 points, 12 rebounds), Mia Jacobs (14 points, nine rebounds).

Third quarter: Oregon maintains its lead

  • Purdue and Oregon trade buckets early in the second half, but the Ducks maintain a 56-39 lead thanks to Ehis Etute and Katie Fiso. Puryear and McCarthy lead the charge for the Boilers.
  • The teams are going back-and-forth scoring, but Oregon still holds a healthy 64-49 advantage.
  • Notable: 11 of the Ducks' third-quarter points have come from the charity stripe. They're outscoring Purdue 24-6 at the free throw line.

Second quarter: Ducks build 23-point advantage

  • Purdue cuts into the lead with scores from Daye, Nya Smith, and McCarthy. 24-18 Oregon.
  • Etute pushes back with a jumper and layup, growing the Ducks' advantage to 10. She has 12 points already, but also two fouls.
  • Free throws from Filippa Tilliander, Astera Tuhina, and Mia Jacobs, combined with another Fiso bucket, help Oregon build a 36-21 lead. It's all part of an 11-1 run for the Ducks.
  • More close-range scores and free throws increase Oregon's advantage to 22 points.
  • At the half: Oregon leads 47-24 and is outscoring Purdue in the paint, 22-8. The Ducks have also capitalized with 15 second-chance points (compared to seven for the Boilers), led by 12 first-half points and eight rebounds from Etute.
  • Notable: Oregon is shooting 47% from the field and 31% from three, compared to Purdue's 24% and 14%.

First quarter: Quick pace, quick lead for Oregon

  • It's fast-paced play right off the bat. The teams score early, and it's 9-8 Oregon with 5:58 remaining.
  • Etute (Oregon) and Daye (PUR) each get six points in the opening six minutes, as Oregon leads 13-8.
  • Fiso also heats up for the Ducks, scoring five points to help Oregon to a 21-12 advantage at the end of Q1.
  • Notable: Oregon is outscoring Purdue in the key, 12-2.
