Wolverines Outpace Ducks to Secure Semifinal Spot

Michigan outscores Oregon in every quarter to advance

No. 3 seed Michigan advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 Allstate Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament with a commanding 80-58 win over Oregon, never trailing and outscoring the Ducks in every quarter. The Wolverines started strong, taking an 18-13 lead after the first quarter, despite Olivia Olson picking up two early fouls. Syla Swords and Ashley Sofilkanich led Michigan’s balanced attack in the first half, helping them build a 33-24 halftime advantage.

Katie Fiso and Ehis Etute combined for 20 of Oregon’s 24 first-half points to keep the Ducks within reach. Michigan extended its lead in the third quarter with a 6-0 run and contributions from Olson, Swords, and Macy Brown, entering the final period up 56-43. Fiso finished with 22 points and seven assists, while Etute added 16 points and 11 rebounds for Oregon. However, Michigan’s depth proved too much, with four players—Swords (17 points), Olson (16 points), Sofilkanich (14 points), and Kendall Dudley (10 points)—reaching double figures. The Wolverines closed the game on an 8-2 run to seal the victory. Their efficient scoring and consistent play throughout the game secured the quarterfinal win.
