UCLA wins its second consecutive Big Ten Tournament title behind 63% shooting
No. 1 seed UCLA put up videogame-like numbers the Big Ten Tournament Championship game, defeating No. 2 seed Iowa, 96-45, to claim its second consecutive title. The Bruins showcased an offensive clinic, shooting an incredible 63% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc. Kiki Rice led the charge, earning Most Outstanding Player honors after averaging 16.7 points and 5.3 assists across the tournament. Lauren Betts, who also made the All-Tournament Team, contributed 10 points in the final. Her sister, Sienna Betts, added 14 in the title game.
UCLA set the tone early with two massive first-quarter runs, jumping to a 22-5 lead. By halftime, the Bruins were up 42-20, fueled by their relentless defense and Iowa's nine turnovers. The second half was no different, as UCLA opened with a 7-0 run and extended its lead to 62-32 by the third quarter. Six Bruins finished in double figures, with Gianna Kneepkens leading the team with 19 points (12 from three).
The victory capped off an undefeated Big Ten season for UCLA, who also secured the regular-season title. With two trophies in hand, the Bruins now set their sights on the ultimate prize: a national championship.
