2025 Football Bowl Release

BIG TEN FOOTBALL RELEASE - BOWLS  |    STANDINGS    |    SCHEDULE    |    MEDIA GUIDE

  • Fifth-ranked Oregon leads off the Big Ten CFP lineup this weekend, when the Ducks host No. 12 seed JMU in first-round action at Autzen Stadium. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by TNT. A win would send Oregon to the Orange Bowl against Texas Tech on Jan. 1 at noon ET at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The complete bowl schedule can be found to the right.
  • Oregon is making its third CFP appearance overall and is one of just four teams (Georgia, Indiana, Ohio State) to make the field each of the last two years. This will be the first meeting on the gridiron between Oregon and James Madison, the Sun Belt Conference champion.
  • Demond Williams Jr. threw three of his four touchdown passes in the second quarter, and Washington’s defense had five interceptions as the Huskies kicked off bowl season with a 38-10 victory over Boise State in the LA Bowl on Dec. 13. Denzel Boston made a 78-yard TD catch for Washington’s first score before Dezmen Roebuck, Raiden Vines-Bright and Quentin Moore caught TD passes for the Huskies (9-4) in the school’s fourth victory in its last five bowl games.
  • Six Big Ten standouts took home a combined 11 national awards this season, highlighted by Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza capturing the Heisman Memorial Trophy. The Hoosier quarterback’s accolade marks the 30th Heisman winner overall from a current or former Big Ten institution (including the University of Chicago), and first since 2022.
  • Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti took home the Home Depot Coach of The Year Award and the Walter Camp Coach of The Year Award, Iowa’s Logan Jones won the Rimington Trophy, Ohio State’s Caleb Downs captured the Jim Thorpe Award and Lott Impact Trophy, Buckeyes’ Archie Griffin was honored with the NCFAA Contributions Award, USC’ Makai Lemon earned the Fred Biletnikoff Award, and Hoosiers’ Mendoza also claimed the Davey O’Brien Award, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award.
  • A total of 7,989,716 fans attended Big Ten home games this season. Excluding 2020, this marks the 12th consecutive season and 13th time in 14 seasons that more than six million fans have attended Big Ten home football games.
  • Indiana was crowned Big Ten Champion following a 13-10 win against Ohio State in the Discover Big Ten Championship Game on Dec. 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Hoosiers extended the best season in school history to 13-0, snapping a 30-game losing streak against the Buckeyes that stretched to 1988, ending major college football’s longest winning streak at 16 and moving to the precipice of earning the first No. 1 ranking in school history.
  • The 2025 Discover Big Ten Football Championship Game drew 18,332,000 viewers on FOX — the most-watched college football conference championship game of all time. At the broadcast’s peak, 19,993,000 viewers witnessed Indiana capture the program’s first Big Ten championship in 58 years. With the historic championship viewership, the Big Ten Conference is now home to the top three most watched college football games this season.
  • A total of 800 football student-athletes were named Academic All-Big Ten honorees on December 10, including unblemished GPAs for 10 honorees. The full list of fall Academic All-Big Ten honorees can be found at bigten.org.
