Northwestern and Iowa Score Men’s Basketball Weekly Accolades

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Basketball Players of the Week presented by Air National Guard for the week of Nov. 27-Dec. 3.

Player of the Week

Boo Buie, Northwestern

G – Gr. – 6-2 – Albany, N.Y. – Gould Academy (Me.) – Major: Post Baccalaureate Certificate

•    Averaged 27.0 points, 8.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game as Northwestern went 2-0 

•    Posted 31 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and two steals with no turnovers in a 92-88 overtime win over then-No. 1 Purdue

•    Only high-major player in the country to post at least 31 points and nine assists with no turnovers in a game since at least 2010

•    First Big Ten player with at least 30 points and nine assists in a game since Denzel Valentine had 30 and 13 for Mich. St. against Indiana on Feb. 14, 2016.

•    Garners his third career Player of the Week award 

•    Last Northwestern Player of the Week: Boo Buie (Feb. 13, 2023)

Freshman of the Week

Owen Freeman, Iowa

F – 6-10 – Moline, Ill. – Moline – Major: Sport and Recreation Management

•    Scored a career-high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go with five rebounds, five blocks and three steals in 19 minutes of a win over North Florida. 

•    His five blocks were the most for the Hawkeyes since Keegan Murray had five blocks against Longwood in 2021.

•    Earns his third Freshman of the Week award
