Maryland and Iowa Net Men’s Basketball Weekly Accolades

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Basketball Players of the Week presented by Air National Guard for the week of Jan. 8-14.

Player of the Week

Jahmir Young, Maryland

G – 5th Yr. – 6-1 – Upper Marlboro, Md. – DeMatha Catholic – Major: Sociology

• Averaged 20.0 points, 6.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals, as the Terrapins scored a pair of wins

• Scored a game-high 28 points, including 16 in the second half, and record eight assists, two rebounds, a steal, and a blocked shot to lead Maryland to a 76-67 win at then-No. 10 Illinois

• Recorded 10 of his 12 points in the second half a 64-57 win over Michigan, posting a +19 after the halftime break

• Garners his second career Player of the Week award

Freshman of the Week

Owen Freeman, Iowa

F – 6-10 – Moline, Ill. – Moline – Major: Sport and Recreation Management

• Paired 22 points and 10 rebounds in the Hawkeyes’ 94-76 win over Nebraska

• Connected on a team season-high 11 field goals in just 13 attempts

• Notched his third double-double of the season

• Earns his sixth Freshman of the Week award
