ROSEMONT, Ill. – Eleven Big Ten men’s golf teams are set to compete in the 2022 Big Ten Match Play Championship on Friday and Saturday. The event will be held at the Ocean Course at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla.
The 11 teams have been drawn into a single-elimination bracket, with the seeds determined using the Nov. 30, 2021, final fall Golfstat rankings. Each team match will consist of six individual matches. Play gets started on Friday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET. No. 1 Purdue, No. 2 Northwestern, No. 3 Michigan State, No. 4 Indiana, and No. 5 Penn State will each receive a first-round bye.
In Friday’s afternoon session, beginning at 1 p.m. ET, top-ranked Purdue will play the winner of the Nebraska/Rutgers match, Northwestern will face the winner of the Iowa/Minnesota match, Michigan State will take the course against the winner of Maryland/Wisconsin and Indiana will take on Penn State.
On Saturday, the morning session (8 a.m. ET) features the championship semifinals and consolation semifinals, while Saturday afternoon concludes with the championship, third-, fifth- and seventh-place matches.
The Indiana men's golf team won the Big Ten Match Play Championship last season. The win marked the Hoosiers’ second Big Ten Match Play Championship title and first since the inaugural event in 2009.
