Illinois Men’s Golf Wins Eighth Straight Big Ten Championship

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The University of Illinois men’s golf team won its eighth straight Big Ten Conference title after posting a two-round score of 560 (-8) at the 2023 Big Ten Men's Golf Championships, which took place at Galloway (N.J.) National Golf Club. The Fighting Illini, which won their 20th Big Ten title and 13th in the last 14 years, also earned the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Championship. 
 
The Fighting Illini were followed by Northwestern (577), Wisconsin (583) and Indiana (586), while Iowa and Ohio State tied for fifth with team scores of 589.
 
Iowa’s Mac McClear and Northwestern’s Daniel Svard shared Big Ten medalist honors with two-round totals of 139 (-3). Illinois teammates Tommy Kuhl and Matthis Besard tied for third place with two-under-par totals of 140, while Illinois’ Jackson Buchanan and Adrien Dumont de Chassart, Minnesota’s Ben Warian and Ohio State’s Maxwell Moldovan each carded a one-under par 141 to share fifth place. All eight players earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Championships Team.
 
The Illini’s Dumont de Chassart was honored with the Big Ten's Les Bolstad Award, given to the conference player with the lowest stroke average (69.62) during the 2022-23 season.
 
The NCAA Men's Golf Championship selection show will air on Golf Channel and streamed live on the Golf Channel website at 1 p.m. (ET) Wednesday.
