Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State Earn Men’s Gymnastics Weekly Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Gymnasts of the Week for the week ending March 17, 2024.
Gymnast of the Week
Fred Richard, Michigan
So. – Stoughton, Mass. – MEGA – Major: College of Literature, Science, and the Arts

• Won the All-Around in No. 3 Michigan’s victory over No. 6 Penn State, posting a score of 86.950, best in the country this season
• Also won the floor exercise (14.60) and horizontal bars (15.30)
• Placed second on the pommel horse (14.765) and still rings (14.35)
• Garners his third Gymnast of the Week award
• Last Michigan Gymnast of the Week: Paul Juda (Feb. 12, 2024)

 
Freshman of the Week
Luke Esparo, Penn State
Wallingford, Conn. – Mark T. Sheehan – Major: Health & Human Development

• Scored his third victory of the season on the rings, scoring a career best 14.450 in Penn State’s loss to Michigan
• Earns his second Freshman of the Week award
• Last Penn State Freshman of the Week: Luke Esparo (March 4, 2024)

 
Co-Event Specialist of the Week
Parker Thackston, Ohio State
So. – Robbinsville, N.J. – Robbinsville – Major: Statistics

• Scored his first win of the season on the pommel horse with a score of 14.700 as the No. 7 Buckeyes’ fell to No. 4 Illinois
• Earns his first Event Specialist of the Week honor
• Last Ohio State Specialist of the Week: Tyler Rockwood (March 11, 2024)
