Ohio State Sweeps Men’s Gymnastics Weekly Honors

Buckeyes’ Nelson, Thackston, and Burgess claim 1st weekly awards of 2025 season

Gymnast of the Week
Kameron Nelson, Ohio State
Sr. – Coeur d’Alene, Idaho – Homeschooled

  • Won the floor exercise (13.800) and vault (14.100) and finished second in the all-around (77.100) at the West Point Open
  • Became the first gymnast in the world to compete two triple backs in a floor routine
  • Floor routine score is best in the country, while all-around and vault scores rank third and fourth, respectively
  • Garners his second career Gymnast of the Week award
  • Last Ohio State Gymnast of the Week: Kameron Nelson (March 11, 2024)

Event Specialist of the Week
Parker Thackston, Ohio State
Jr. – Robbinsville, N.J. – Robbinsville

  • Posted a winning score 14.500 on the pommel horse at the West Point Open
  • Recorded the nation’s top score in the pommel horse through the season’s first weekend
  • Earns his third Event Specialist of the Week honor
  • Last Ohio State Specialist of the Week: Parker Thackston (April 1, 2024)

Freshman of the Week
Tyler Burgess, Ohio State
Las Vegas, Nev. – Foothill

  • Tied for second on the parallel bars at the West Point Open with a score of 13.700
  • Ranks as the third highest score on parallel bars in the country
  • Earns his first Freshman of the Week award
  • Last Ohio State Freshman of the Week: Zach Snyder (April 1, 2024)
