Penn State, Michigan Score Men’s Gymnastics Weekly Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Gymnasts of the Week for the week ending Jan. 7, 2024.
Gymnast of the Week
Josh Karnes, Penn State
Jr. – Erie, Pa. – Erie – Major: Media Studies
• Won three events, as No. 2 Penn State opened the season with a win over then-No. 11 Army
• Finished first in the floor (13.650), parallel bars (14.900), and high bar (14.050)
• Placed third in the pommel horse (13.150)
• Garners his third career Player of the Week award
• Last Penn State Gymnast of the Week: Ian Raubal (March 20, 2023)
Freshman of the Week
Landon Simpson, Penn State
Bellefonte, Pa. – Bellefonte Area – Major: Engineering Premajor
• Won the pommel horse (13.650) in his collegiate debut
• Finished third in the in the vault (14.000)
• Earns his first Freshman of the Week award
• Last Penn State Freshman of the Week: Ian Raubal (March 20, 2023)
Event Specialist of the Week
David Wolma, Michigan
Jr. – Cypress, Texas – Cypress – Major: Communications
• Posted a score of 14.700 in the pommel horse to finish second, as No. 1 Michigan opened the season against then-No. 14 Simpson and No. 15 Greenville
• Earns his first Event Specialist of the Week award
