Michigan State and Ohio State Awarded Three Stars Honors

MSU’s Augustine earns First Star status for second-straight week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for ice hockey games played Nov. 14-15.

First Star
Trey Augustine, Michigan State
Jr. – G – South Lyon, Mich. — U.S. National Team Development Program
2023 NHL Draft: 2nd Rd, 41st overall, Detroit

  • Allowed two goals in No. 1/1 Michigan State’s road sweep of Notre Dame
  • Recorded a 1.01 goals-against average and a .963 save percentage on the weekend, turning away 52-of-54 shots
  • Logged his 50th career win on Saturday, which ranks ninth on MSU’s career list
  • Owns the NCAA’s third-best GAA (1.32) and save percentage (.948)
  • Earns his seventh career Star Award (4-First Stars, 3-Second Stars)


Second Star
Adam Eisele, Ohio State
Gr. – F – Lake Elmo, Minn. – Minnesota State (NCAA)

  • Compiled a Big Ten-best four points on the weekend
  • Scored the go-ahead goal Friday in Ohio State’s 5-1 win over No. 7/7 Wisconsin in Madison, Wis.
  • Struck for two goals on Saturday and finished the series with nine shots and plus-three plus/minus rating
  • The Minnesota State transfer now has 12 career game-winning goals
  • Last Ohio State Star recipient: Felix Caron (Second Star, Oct. 14, 2025)


Third Star
Porter Martone, Michigan State
Fr. – F – Peterborough, Ontario – Brampton (OHL)
2025 NHL Draft: 1st Rd, 6th overall, Philadelphia

  • Produced three goals as Michigan State swept a road series at Notre Dame
  • Netted the game-winning goal both nights
  • Set the tone early for the Spartans, scoring twice in the first period of the series opener
  • The freshman forward leads Michigan State in scoring with 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists)
  • Becomes the first Michigan State freshman to earn a Star Award since Shane Vansaghi (Third Star) — almost a year to the day — on Nov. 19, 2024
