Michigan and Penn State Secure Three Stars Awards
Michigan’s Peck and Penn State’s DiMarsico and McKenna honored
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for ice hockey games played January 15-17, 2026.
First Star
Matt DiMarsico, Penn State
Jr. – F – Wexford, Pa. – Green Bay (USHL)
- Led Division I skaters with four goals last week, helping No. 8/8 Penn State to a sweep of Notre Dame
- Produced his third hat trick of the season with three goals in PSU’s 4-1 win on Friday
- Scored game-winning goals in both games against the Fighting Irish
- The Big Ten Distinguished Scholar collects his third career Star Award and second of the season, having been tabbed First Star on Oct. 21, 2025
- Last Nittany Lion named First Star: Jarod Crespo (Jan. 6, 2026)
Second Star
Stephen Peck, Michigan
Fr. – G – New York, N.Y. – Muskegon (USHL)
- Went 2-0 in his first two collegiate starts, helping No. 1/1 Michigan to its first road sweep of Minnesota since 2018
- Didn’t give up an even-strength goal in the series, all three goals allowed occurred on the power play
- Turned away 43-of-46 shots for a 1.48 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage
- The Wolverine netminder receives his first Big Ten weekly award
- Becomes the sixth different Michigan player to earn a Star accolade this season
Third Star
Gavin McKenna, Penn State
Fr. – F – Whitehorse, Yukon – Medicine Hat (WHL)
- Tied for the national lead with five points (two goals, three assists), factoring in half of Penn State’s 10 goals in a home sweep of Notre Dame
- Amassed a career-best three points (two goals, assist) in Penn State’s 6-3 win on Saturday
- Finished with 11 shots on goal, two blocked shots and averaged 24:04 of ice time per game
- Has captured two Star Awards this season, was chosen Third Star on Oct. 28, 2025
- His selection marks the 10th Star Award for Penn State in 2025-26
