Notre Dame and Wisconsin Collect Three Stars Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for ice hockey games played March 5-6, 2026.

First Star
Paul Fischer, Notre Dame
Jr. – D – River Forest, Ill. – U.S. National Team Development Program

• Recorded four points (goal, three assists) to lead Big Ten defensemen in scoring last week, playing a role in Notre Dame’s road sweep of Ohio State
• Scored game-tying goal Friday night with 0.1 seconds left in regulation; Notre Dame went on to a 4-3 overtime victory
• Started the series with two assists and a plus-three rating in Thursday’s 5-4 overtime win
• Becomes the first Notre Dame defenseman to earn First Star honors since Drew Bavaro (February 28, 2023)
• Last Irish player named First Star: Cole Knuble (October 15, 2024)

Second Star
Gavin Morrissey, Wisconsin
So. – F – Rochester Hills, Mich. – Fargo (USHL)

• Compiled three points (two goals, assist) in Wisconsin’s road sweep of No. 6/6 Penn State, helping the Badgers secure home ice for the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals
• Scored a power play goal in Thursday’s 7-3 victory and contributed a goal and assist in the Badgers’ 5-2 win on Friday
• Finished with a 60.3 faceoff win percentage, controlling 35 of 58 draws from the dot
• Reached 30 points on the season for the second-straight year
• Last Wisconsin Star recipient: Eli Pulver (February 24, 2026)

Third Star
Evan Werner, Notre Dame
Jr. – F – Flower Mound, Texas – Michigan (NCAA)

• Amassed two goals and two assists in leading Notre Dame to a sweep of Ohio State to close the regular season
• Scored the overtime game-winning goal to cap a four-point night in a 5-4 win on Thursday
• Skated on a line that accumulated 10 points against the Buckeyes
• Finished with a plus-five rating for the series; leads the Irish with 17 goals and 33 points
• Collects the fourth weekly award of his career and his second of the season, was named Third Star on February 10, 2026
