Ohio State and Penn State Nab Three Stars Honors

Sergeev (PSU), Terness (OSU) and Laubach (PSU) claim weekly awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for hockey games played Feb. 7-8.

First Star
Arsenii Sergeev, Penn State
Jr. – G – Yaroslavl, Russia — UConn (NCAA)

  • Stopped 64-of-66 shots and did not allow an even-strength goal as Penn State swept No. 19/20 Wisconsin in Madison, Wis.
  • Set a Penn State single-season record with his fourth shutout of the season on Friday and set another school record with 22 saves in the second period of a 6-2 win on Saturday
  • Finished the weekend with a .970 save percentage and 1.00 goals-against average
  • The Calgary Flames draft pick earns his second Big Ten weekly honor of the season
  • Last Penn State First Star: Arsenii Sergeev on Jan. 7, 2025

Second Star
Logan Terness, Ohio State
Sr. – G – North Vancouver, B.C. – UConn (NCAA)

  • Made 68 saves on 70 shots in leading 9/10 Ohio State to a pair of come-from-behind wins at Notre Dame by identical 5-1 scores
  • Allowed just one power play goal in a 28-save effort on Friday while picking up his first career assist
  • Produced 41 saves on Saturday, completing the Buckeye’s weekend sweep with a .971 save percentage and 1.00 goals-against average
  • Receives his second Star honor of the season and the third of his career
  • Last Ohio State recipient: Brent Johnson (Second Star) on Dec. 17, 2024

Third Star
Reese Laubach, Penn State
So. – F – San Jose, Calif. — Omaha (USHL)

  • Tallied back-to-back game-winning goals for the Nittany Lions in a road sweep of No. 19/20 Wisconsin on Feb. 7-8
  • Finished the two-game series against the Badgers with three goals, four points, seven shots on goal, a plus-five rating and a 53.3 percent success rate at the faceoff dot
  • Has compiled five multiple-point efforts in his last six games
  • The San Jose Sharks draft choice collects his second Star award of the season
  • Last Penn State Star honoree: Aiden Fink (Second Star) on Feb. 4, 2025
