United States Captures Gold at IIHF World Junior Championship
Six Big Ten players help the Americans win back-to-back gold for the first time

ROSEMONT, Ill. — Six hockey student-athletes and a coach from the Big Ten Conference helped the United States capture gold at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship with a 4-3 overtime win against Finland Sunday in Ottawa. The win gave the U.S. National Junior Team gold medals in back-to-back tournaments for the first time ever.
Representing the Big Ten were: Oliver Moore and Brodie Ziemer of Minnesota, Danny Nelson and Paul Fischer of Notre Dame, Logan Hensler of Wisconsin and Trey Augustine of Michigan State. Minnesota Associate Head Coach Steve Miller was part of the Team USA coaching staff.
