Michigan, Michigan State and Minnesota Earn Three Stars Honors

Snuggerud, Augustine and Werner lead respective teams to weekend sweeps

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for hockey games played Nov. 8-9.

First Star
Jimmy Snuggerud, Minnesota
Jr. – F – Chaska, Minn. — U.S. National Team Development Program (USNTDP)

  • Recorded multiple-point games as No. 3/3 Minnesota swept Wisconsin in Madison, Wis.
  • Scored twice (including the game winner) in the Gophers’ 3-2 come-from-behind win on Friday
  • Delivered a back-handed pass that led to the game-winning goal in Saturday’s 3-2 overtime victory; finished the weekend with two goals and two assists
  • The St. Louis Blue first round draft pick collects his fifth career Big Ten weekly award (4-Firsts, 1- Second)
  • Last Minnesota First Star: Sam Rinzel (Oct. 29, 2024)

Second Star
Trey Augustine, Michigan State
So. – G – South Lyon, Mich. – U.S. National Team Development Program (USNTDP)

  • Compiled a .944 save percentage and 1.50 goals-against average to lead No. 4/3 Michigan State to a home sweep of No. 13/12 Ohio State
  • Gave up just one even-strength goal to the Buckeyes, who ranked sixth nationally in scoring offense
  • Stopped 51 of 54 shots to improve his season record to 6-1-0
  • The Detroit Red Wings draft pick earns his fifth career Star Award (2-Firsts, 3-Seconds)
  • Last Michigan Star recipient: Tanner Kelly (Oct. 29, 2024)

Third Star
Evan Werner, Michigan
So. – F – Flower Mound, Texas — Colorado College (NCAA)

  • Registered two goals and an assist in helping No. 7/7 Michigan to a weekend sweep of Notre Dame at Yost Ice Arena
  • Netted the game-winning goal at 2:02 of overtime in a 2-1 win in the series opener
  • Scored goals both nights while taking 12 shots and blocking two shots in the series
  • Earns a Star Award for the second-straight week
  • Last Michigan honorees: Evan Werner (First Star) and Jackson Hallum (Second Star) on Nov. 5, 2024
