Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State Receive Three Stars Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for hockey games played Feb. 16-17.

First Star
Ryan Bischel, Notre Dame
Gr. – G – Medina, Minn. — Fargo Force (USHL)
  • Stopped 67-of-71 shots (.944 save percentage) as Notre Dame earned four points against No. 8/7 Minnesota
  • Held one of the nation’s top offenses to just a goal in Notre Dame’s 6-1 win on Friday
  • Finished with a 1.98 goals-against average, posting 30-plus saves in both games
  • Honored with a Big Ten Star award for the third time this season and ninth time overall (4-First, 1-Second, 4-Thirds)
  • Last Notre Dame Award winner: Cole Knuble (Second Star, Jan. 3, 2024)

Second Star
Scooter Brickey, Ohio State
5th – D – Burtchville, Mich. — Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL)

  • Compiled four points, sharing Big Ten honors for most points on the weekend, in Ohio State’s sweep of No. 4/4 Wisconsin
  • Assisted on the game-tying goal with 1:39 left in regulation and provided the secondary assist on the overtime game-winner on Friday
  • His nine goals, 13 assists and 22 points this season are the best numbers of his five-year collegiate career
  • Receives a Big Ten award for the third time in his career and the second time this season
  • Previous Ohio State winner: Scooter Brickey (Third Star, Jan. 10, 2024)

Reese Laubach, Penn State
Fr. – F – San Jose, Calif. — Omaha Lancers (USHL)
  • Amassed three goals and four points in Penn State’s series split against No. 14/14 Michigan at Pegula Ice Arena
  • Scored two goals (including a power play tally), blocked two shots and won a season-high 11 faceoffs in a 4-2 Penn State victory on Saturday
  • Owns the third-most goals (10) on the Nittany Lions squad
  • The San Jose Sharks draft pick earns his first Big Ten weekly award
  • Last Penn State award recipient: Aiden Fink (Third Star, Jan. 30, 2024)
