Michigan State Captures Big Ten Hockey Championship

ROSEMONT, lll. — Michigan State defeated Wisconsin, 5-2, Friday evening in Madison, Wis., to clinch outright the 2023-24 Big Ten Hockey Championship. It is the first Big Ten title for the Spartans, who are guided by second-year Head Coach Adam Nightingale.
Michigan State stands atop the Big Ten Standings with 52 points, five points ahead of second-place Wisconsin with the conference season concluding tomorrow evening. Michigan State earns the top seed and a quarterfinals bye for the Big Ten Tournament, which begins March 8 on campus sites. The Spartans will host a semifinal game on Saturday, March 16, in East Lansing, Mich.
Ranked sixth nationally by the USCHO.com and USA Today/The Rink Live polls, Michigan State (22-8-3, 16-5-2 Big Ten) was picked third in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing tied for fifth place last season.
