Michigan State and Penn State Score Three Stars Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for hockey games played Nov. 17-18.

 

First Star

Trey Augustine, Michigan State

Fr. – G – South Lyon, Mich. — U.S. National Team Development Program (USNTDP)

  • Earned a pair of wins as No. 11/11 Michigan State captured the series against Wisconsin for the Spartans’ first sweep of a top-ranked opponent since 1974.

  • Stopped 60 of 64 shots for a .938 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average

  • Made 32 saves (including 14 in the third period) in the series opener and followed with 28 saves the next night

  • Honored for the first time with a Big Ten weekly award

  • Last Michigan State Star honoree: Gavin O’Connell (First Star, Nov. 7, 2023)

Second Star

Aiden Fink, Penn State

Fr. – F – Calgary, Alberta — Brooks Bandits (AJHL)

  • Compiled four goals and two assists in Penn State’s series split No. 12/12 Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.

  • Record three goals and an assist in Penn State’s 5-3 win Saturday at Yost Ice Arena

  • His hat trick was the 11th in team history, the fourth against a Big Ten opponent and the first since 2018

  • First-time recipient of a Star award

  • Last Penn State recipient: Ryan Kirwan (Third Star, Oct. 17, 2023) 

Third Star

Matt DiMarsico, Penn State

Fr. – F – Wexford, Pa. — Green Bay Gamblers (USHL)

  • Shared the Big Ten lead with six points over the weekend to help No. 18/19 Penn State to a road split versus No. 12/12 Michigan

  • Tied a school record with four assists (including a helper on the game-winner) in Penn State’s 5-3 come-from-behind win on Saturday

  • Produced a goal and assist in the series opener

  • Earns first weekly award from the Big Ten

  • Last Penn State recipient: Ryan Kirwan (Third Star, Oct. 17, 2023)
