ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for hockey games played Dec. 1-2.
First Star
Kyle McClellan, Wisconsin
Sr. – G – Manchester, Mo. — Mercyhurst (Atlantic Hockey)
Backstopped No. 6/8 Wisconsin to a conference sweep of Ohio State in Madison, Wis.
Turned away 50 of 51 shots with the lone goal allowed coming on the power play
Compiled a .980 save percentage and 0.50 goals-against average along with his third shutout of the season
Leads the NCAA with a 1.74 GAA and ranks second with a .934 save percentage
Secures third career Star award and second of the 2023-24 campaign
Second Star
Rhett Pitlick, Minnesota
Jr. – F – Plymouth, Minn. — Chaska HS
Compiled five points (two goals, three assists) as No. 7/6 Minnesota split against No. 18/18 Penn State in University Park, Pa.
Factored in five of the team’s seven goals over the weekend
Recorded a career-high three points in the series opener and extended his goal-scoring streak to six games on Saturday
Receives third career Star honor and second of the season (Second Star, Nov. 7)
Becomes second Gopher honored in as many weeks — teammate Bryce Brodzinski claimed First Star accolades last Tuesday

Started both games in net for Notre Dame in a series split versus No. 13/12 Michigan
Stopped 60 of 63 shots for a .952 save percentage and 1.50 goals-against average
Held nation’s second-highest scoring offense (4.3 gpg) to a pair of even-strength goals while killing 5-of-6 short-handed situations
The reigning Big Ten Goaltender of the Year earns his seventh career Star award and second of the season
