Oregon, Penn State, and Wisconsin Take Home Weekly Men’s Indoor Track and Field Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 3-10, 2025.
Track Athlete of the Week
Simeon Birnbaum, Oregon
Sophomore – Distance – Rapid City, S.D. – Major: BADM
- Finished third in the 3,000m at the BU Colyear-Danville Opener in Boston
- His time of 7:39.65 is best in the Big Ten and third in the NCAA
- The sophomore also broke the nine-year-old Oregon school record in the event
- Birnbaum ranks as the No. 21 all-time performer in collegiate history
- This marks Oregon’s first Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award
Field Athlete of the Week
Collin Burkhart, Penn State
Grad. Student – Throws – Nazareth, Penn. – Major: Business Administration
- Won the men’s weight throw at the Bucknell Opener
- Tallied a 20.38m (66-10.5) throw, which was best in the event
- Last Penn State Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Luke Knipe (Feb. 23, 2022)
Freshman of the Week
Henry Risser, Wisconsin
Freshman – Mid-distance – Golden Valley, Minn. – Major: Undeclared
- Won the 600m at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener
- His time of 1:17.09 is second best in school history and 70th-fastest time ever in the event
- This marks Wisconsin’s first Indoor Freshman of the Week award
