Iowa, Indiana and Michigan Win Weekly Men’s Indoor Track and Field Awards

Hawkeyes’ Johnson, Hoosiers’ Banks and Wolverines’ Isaac collect weekly laurels

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 7-14, 2026.  

Track Athlete of the Week  
Trelee Banks, Indiana 
Senior – Sprints – Washington D.C.  

  • Won the Rod McCravy Invitational 300m with a time of 32.89 
  • Banks broke his own school record with his new time 
  • Last Indiana Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award: Rikkoi Brathwaite (Dec. 15, 2021) 

 

Field Athlete of the Week 
Ryan Johnson, Iowa 
Junior – Throws – Springboro, Ohio – Major: Mechanical Engineering 

  • Won the Hawkeye Invitational weight throw at 24.85m  
  • His mark currently best in the NCAA and Big Ten this season 
  • Johnson’s throw is also 4th-best all-time in DI history, 11th-best all time in US history, and 12th best in the world record books 
  • So far, Johnson is the only thrower in the NCAA to break the 80-feet barrier 
  • Last Iowa Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award: Ryan Johnson (Feb. 19, 2025) 

 

Freshman of the Week 
Quincy Isaac, Michigan 
Freshman – Long Jump – Belleville, Mich. – Major: Undeclared 

  • Won the long jump with a mark of 7.85m at the Wolverine Invitational 
  • His mark currently is best in the NCAA and Big Ten 
  • Isaac’s leap is No. 2 all time on the program performers list, just 0.04m shy of the program record  
  • This marks Michigan’s first Indoor Freshman of the Week award

Freshman:  Henry Risser, WIS

Track: Trelee Banks, IND 
Field: Ryan Johnson, IOWA 
Freshman: Quincy Isaac, MICH
