Iowa, Purdue and USC Earn Weekly Men’s Indoor Track and Field Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 4^th- Feb. 11^th, 2026.  

Track Athlete of the Week  
Garrett Kaalund, USC 
Senior – Sprints – San Antonio, Texas – Legal Studies 

• Recorded a 200m time of 20.12 to win the New Mexico Collegiate Classic 
• His time is best in the NCAA this season, sixth-best all time and a Big Ten record 
• Kaalund’s time also broke the school record set by Olympian Andre De Grasse in 2015 (20.26) 
• This marks Kaalund’s second Indoor Track Athlete of the Week this season. Last: Jan. 21, 2026 

Field Athlete of the Week 
Ryan Johnson, Iowa 
Junior – Throws – Springboro, Ohio – Major: Mechanical Engineering 

• Neared the 25-meter barrier with a 24.99m throw to win the Iowa State Classic 
• His throw is fourth-best in NCAA and 15^th-best performance in US and world history 
• Currently maintains the best throw in the NCAA this season 
• Named USTFCCCA Men’s National Athlete of the Week on Monday 
• This marks Johnson’s second Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award this season. Last: Jan. 14, 2026 
   

Freshman of the Week 
Kamryn Harry, PUR 
Freshman – Sprints – Sachse, Texas – Major: Exploratory Studies 

• Won the 200m open section at the Windy City Invite 
• His time of 21.36 was the No. 7 time in the event by a Big Ten freshman this season 
• This marks Purdue’s first Indoor Freshman of the Week award
