Michigan, Ohio State and Purdue Net Weekly Men’s Indoor Track and Field Honors
Wolverines’ McFarland, Buckeyes’ Udo and Boilermakers’ Kalu claim weekly accolades

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan 8-15, 2025.
Track Athlete of the Week
Trent McFarland, Michigan
Sophomore – Distance – Utica, Mich. – Major: Undeclared
Won the mile with a personal best time of 3:58.71, the No. 10 mark in program history.
His mark is also the fifth-best mark in the current NCAA season and the best mark in the Big Ten.

Field Athlete of the Week
Chidozie Kalu, Purdue
Sophomore – Jumps – Umuahia, Nigeria – Major: Human Services
Jumped 15.68m (51-5 ½) in the triple jump which currently ranks eighth best in Division I.
His mark also placed him ninth all-time in Purdue history and second at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invite.
His jump is the second best by a Big Ten Athlete so far this season.

His time earned him first place and set a new meet record
Udo is also fourth on the all-time fastest 600m list in Ohio State history
Earns his and Ohio State’s first ever Men’s Indoor Track Freshman of the Week award
