Iowa, USC, and Washington Claim Weekly Men’s Indoor Track and Field Accolades 

Hawkeyes’ Johnson, Trojans’ Brackins Jr., and Huskies’ Green and Ligons and earn weekly honors 

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan 15-22, 2025.  

Co-Track Athletes of the Week  
Johnny Brackins Jr., USC 
Senior – Sprints – Kansas City, Mo. – Major: Psychology 

  • Secured a 60-meter hurdles time of 7.49 seconds at the Spokane Sports Showcase. 
  • His time of 7.49 is a PR, USC school-record, and NCAA-leading time. 
  • Brackins Jr. is also tied for sixth-fastest collegiate athlete of all-time of the 60-meter hurdles. 
  • Earns his and USC’s first ever Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award 

Nathan Green, Washington 
Senior – Distance – Boise, ID – Major: Real Estate 

  • Ran a 3:50.74 mile, fourth-fastest mile time in NCAA history to win the Mile City meet
  • His time is the fastest mile ever run in collegiate history before the month of
  • February and is the world-leader in the mile in 2025 so far. Earns his second Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award this season. Last: Dec. 11, 2024 

Field Athlete of the Week 
Ryan Johnson, Iowa 
Sophomore – Throws –Springboro, Ohio – Major: Mechanical Engineering 

  • Set a program and facility record with a 24.00-meter throw in the men’s weight throw at the Hawkeye Invitational.
  • Holds the Big Ten and NCAA Division I lead and U20 world record with his mark. All six of Johnson’s throws at the Hawkeye Invitational surpassed the 22.75-meter mark.
  • Last Iowa Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Sal Capaldo (Jan. 24, 2024) 

Freshman of the Week 
Bodi Ligons, Washington 
Freshman – Sprints – Los Angeles, CA – Major: Undeclared 

  • Won Mile City meet 600m with a time of 1:16.48 
  • His time broke a record held by two-time Pac-12 400m hurdles champion Cass Elliot by .03 seconds. 
  • Earns his and Washington’s first ever Men’s Indoor Track Freshman of the Week award
